At the very least, it's great having Paul Romanuk back.

So should I take time away from something I enjoy to go do another jog for cancer? I'm doing that next weekend if it's alright with you. We are allowed to discuss and be upset about things that aren't ultra-important.

And just because the Sportsnet games are less unbearable doesn't make is acceptable that all of my Flames hockey has go through this grinder. We are comparing it to the TSN and CBC games we had last year.

It's not at all, and I'll accept mistakes all day.

Until it's a company I already hate, buying exclusive rights to these games and then feeding us this.

Lets not forget that much to Dion Phanuefs dismay, every other game they point out Monahan was the first Flames rookie since Iggy to reach 20 goals.

They should expect their intermission guys - Healy and Cox to know about the team's they are broadcasting. They are trying to turn Cox into Bob McKenzie II and its not going to happen unless he learns the league properly.

The actual broadcasts are fine.

The only thing that really gets me about sportsnet is the lack of respect the flames constantly get. Non stop talk about how unskilled we are, and little to no effort in stat and fact checking.
Yeah, it's early in the season, but we have 3 guys in the top 30 for points, with colborne just outside at 32. We're also 4th in the nhl in goals for.
I think the production values have been pretty good, and some of the personnel are good too.

I have no complain about the hockey coverage this season so far. I thought they are doing well and coverage is about 200 times better than the last few season. I thought Romanuk and Johnson combo are good, so as Regional coverage with Kelly Hrudey and the PBP guy. Heck even the Vancouver and Edmonton regional guys was okay.

So true.

I'm always tempted to think the bolded part as well, but Sportsnet has been around for a while. Plus, they have taken the coverage we liked and forced us to their channel for 12+ years. If you're going to do that, it better be perfect.

The NHL has effectively accepted a decrease in broadcast quality for their fans for more money in their pockets. Anything but an upgrade for the fans is annoying.

I'm here to watch the Flames, I don't want to hear how the game I just watched shouldn't have been won.
If I have one issue with Sportsnet, it is those two. I know the market for analysts is weak since TSN has the good ones locked up, but I'm not sure what makes Healy and Cox the pairing that Rogers want to showcase for the marquee games on the weekends. I don't know for a fact, but I can't imagine that fanfare for Healy is all that great, and I don't know how many care for Cox as well.

Friedman, Darren Pang, and even P.J. Stock should be getting more airtime since they've showcased themselves to be personalities that actually know what they're talking about.

They also had a picture that stated Brodie was averaging 24:69 icetime this year!

Well sorry to say this but the coverage those networks offered was downright embarrassing all things considered. If your benchmark is to put all your money into broadcasting a select few games a week to a hockey mad market and piggy backing other networks to produce the rest, then that's your problem right there.

Please tell me why a couple typos and one or two sub par commentators in the first week of the season makes your life such a living hell? Would you rather have slightly better production value and have to listen to Robb Kerr again?

Healy is a troll. The whole point of the stuff he says his to enrage the Fanbases across the country. Exploiting the passions of fans for their teams by idiots like that results in lots of page views and ranting on ad supported Rogers message boards. There is no such thing as bad publicity.

No chance they dump Healy.

As I said in the GT, I'm content to give them some time to pull it together. HNIC and TSN were established crews, the best of the best... I don't expect these Rogers crews put together haphazardly to be NFL on NBC type of a production right away.

Any analysis I want in an intermission or post-game I just read here from you guys, who know far more about the Flames than any broadcaster.

I've really enjoyed the broadcasts thus far. Good play-by-play crews, solid production quality for the most part, and like the insiders like Friedman. Besides the Gaudreau first NHL goal gaffe and the Berra thing I don't think there is a lot to complain about.

Even Peter Maher made quite a few mistakes last year with names and facts.

I hardly ever watch the panel so I can't really comment on that, but I'd give Sportsnet a thumbs up so far.
Wow...you nailed it. TSN and CBC may have had better quality, but the Toronto centered focus has been tough to tolerate for so many years. SN caters to me, A Flames fan. They have for some time now. The quality of the broadcasts will improve. To me, I think that they are already better than TSN & CBC, because I haven't had to listen to Maple Leafs this and Maple Leafs that throughout an entire broadcast. Plus, i'm sure that someday someone will tell Damien Cox that Rhetto Berro plays for Colorado now and that Hiller and Ramo play for the Flames.
