All hail the Kipper. Averaging 74 games per season for seven years is insane. And amazing.

I had to re-calibrate my tongue to get it out too, don't feel bad.

Kipper/Turek would have been amazing in 04/05.

Stupid lockout...

Yup. Turk got a raw deal and would have made a helluva backup ( which he was before coming here).

follow up ...

does a tandem make sense for a competitive team with salary caps? Flames can do it because they are a last place cap team with all kinds of money, but if you are tight for space can you afford a key player on the bench every night? Can you balance out that investment because of the obvious fall back plan in case of injury? Can you make a case that two rested goaltenders make you dangerous in the playoffs?

Great write up, but...

...A terrible Chicago franchise drafted Toews and Kane, and with that everyone felt sucking badly was the best building plan, only to to have the Panthers and Oilers have everyone (Except the Oilers themselves) rethink that suggestion

So how does this progress?

Will one goalie rise above the other?
Do we trade one at the deadline (and if so, who)?
Do we re-sign Ramo to continue the pairing next year, even though it would mean losing Ortio?

Ramo traded at the deadline is my best guess

I hope not. Ramo has more serviceable years left. I would prefer a Ramo/ Ortio combo.

Hard to trade Hiller with the term and money he's getting though

He's only got a year left after this season . retain a percentage as Calgary has enough room.

Ortio is signed for another season after this season as well.

Trading Ramo doesn't preclude Ramo signing here in the summer...

Rarely happens these days.

It would be hard to imagine giving up any of the 3 This year.

Ramo has been playing very well since coming back from Injury last year. He IMO moves the best out of the 3.

Ortios not doing himself any favors so far . GAA 4.02 and SV % 0.880

Giving up any of the 3 leaves a huge hole in the goalI system . There is Gillies and McDonald down the line but how far down are they?

Gillies could elect for a Fourth year at College. Even If he does not, he may need a few years in the AHL. He is only 20. He still is a big question mark at the pro level.

Mcdonald is only 18 . He is not eligible for the A even for a few years

I'd prefer they find a way to sign and keep Ramo too. Does Hiller have any movement issues in his contract? I'm guessing he always had Calgary as a one year plan to prove himself to a contender in mind anyway.

Maybe we re-sign Ramo for a 3-yr deal and trade Ortio at the deadline in a package for prospects and picks. This duo has at least a few years left in them and by then Gillis or someone else should be able to step-in.
