I still thought watching the two side boosters re-land was downright amazing, and worthy of "rah rah", and hey, like Meat Loaf says, two out of three ain't bad.
Orbital mechanics isn't a fuzzy thing, I'm not sure how they could accidentally get into the wrong orbit unless it was something like not being able to turn off the rocket or something like that.

Didn't someone mention that there was a longer then expected rocket burn?

Yup, that's what happened. Burned longer than expected.

Yeah I've got open over the ear headphones, have tried with several different ones. The thing is the signal processing makes certain assumptions about the shape of the ears and uses an average to try and hit the biggest number of people.
I remember downloading a whole set of files once and each was for a different ear 'profile' and you could listen to them all and find out what one worked best for you, then put that info into certain apps that used that method and it would use your profile.
That's why I always liked headphones that had multiple drivers, those would work better for me because the sound was actually coming from the direction.
I gotta say, I’m pretty disappointed they didn’t hook up a longer term power source (edit: and signal transmission system) for the car cameras and music. Solar panels or something. Shocked actually. I would have thought that would be priceless advertising for Tesla to keep live streaming its journey for years or decades.

I would think it would have to be a lot more complicated for that to happen. They'd need some sort of orientation system to keep the antenna pointed towards Earth, which means thrusters or gyros, a deep space protected computer, solar panels, etc...It would be neat but it seems like this was planned on fairly short notice(the Roadster) and satellites are usually developed over years.
Open-backed over-ear headphones work best. I've jumped while listening to them because of a door knock in a song.
OK, so I tried the rocket video with these headphones, and with 5.1, no question the 5.1 sounds better. Plus you get to feel the rumble in your chest as everything shaked. Headphones were far more isolating. The 5.1 sounded and felt like I was there, the headphones just sounded like I was there.
Ya you’re right. Definitely a lot more complicated than just power to keep the video going. But still, I’m surprised they didn’t spring for it heck, if I’m already a billionaire a couple times over, I’m definitely throwing an extra, what, $100M max so my car that I shot into space on my rocket could beam its journey back to everyone on earth for free. That’d be worth it even ignoring the advertising value for my electric car company.

With no atmosphere and direct sunlight won't that car fade and look pretty rough in a very short period? Wait, no oxygen means no oxidation. Hmm. Will the paint last forever then?
Did they actually leave the battery in the Tesla when they launched it?
It's probably a special battery, I doubt a regular car battery would work well in the vacuum and extreme temperatures of space.
I was wondering about that, depending on how many g's the launch generates they maybe had to take a bunch of stuff out or otherwise modify it to ensure nothing came off causing a problem during the launch.

I'd be surprised if they left the actual Tesla battery in. Lipo are just to volatile, I can't imagine they would survive. Below -30 they are fairly useless anyway, -270 best case they are block of ice. Worst case the thermal cycling would cause them to explode. I think, anyway.
