Default Rogers launches Chatr

Rogers has created a new discount carrier designed for lots of chatting, no data options available. Something to replace your land line with. The two plans don't look too shabby if you're not one of those BB - iPhone people.

Thanks Regulator.....I would agree that this would be a good way to replace the land line - solid pricing.

One thing stuck out though......$0.25 per voicemail message retrieved? Is this typical nowadays?

The $45 a month seems pretty good.

Unlimited outgoing and incoming from anywhere in Canada.
Unlimited Text, Voicemail, Call Forwarding, Group calling, Call display, Call waiting.

We haven't had a land line in 8 years, we've been with rogers and I always need to worry about going over my minutes during the daytime (so when at home I'll use skype for longer calls)

The $45 dollar plan is only 3 bucks more than I pay now, so I might consider it. The unlimited calling is ideal.

Yeah, if you don't need data, can't really beat $45/month.

I do have to check out their coverage though. The downside of Wind Mobile and the other similar brands is their lack of coverage throughout the WHOLE province.

The have zones too, which is ridiculous.

Absolutely no benefit to anyone unless they NEVER travel, or they use it as an alternative landline.

They are on the Rogers GSM network, I've had no issues with their coverage.

Well, Wind Mobile claims to have all of Canada covered too, but as soon as you get out of the 'zone', it starts costing.

So your 'unlimited' plan ONLY applies in the specified zone.

Which makes it a GREAT alternative to a landline. But a not so great alternative for those of us who travel a lot, or live OUT of a zone.
