I'd like to see Calgarypuck set up some sort of Hunger Games for the members. Pre or post Stampede would work best. Set it up at Prince Island Park. Various weapons staged throughout. Initial polling of most "interesting" posters will get us down to an even 200, then let the blood bath begin.
Moderators can view the proceedings from Crescent Heights. Attached is a photo of Mrcbio and Jiri getting ready

Personally, I really hope Bennett has gained confidence after these playoffs and will have a big year next year because then:
Tkachuk-Bennett-Ferlanf can become our tough physical line
Backlund-Frolik will be the shutdown pair
|
I like those lines and think backlund frolik would make anybody better. Great spot for a younger guy.
But Brouwer was not physical all year. He played gutless all season, never stuck up for a teammate that i remember. Mailed it in.

Realistic hopes:
- Get Ferland and Bennett re-upped to team-friendly deals with notable term.
- Bring in Ben Bishop at 5M x 4Y and let Rittich or Gillies back him up.
- Fire Sigalet and get someone as goalie coach who has had real NHL success at the position in the last 15 years. Maybe bring Niklas Backstrom back if he has retired; he seemed to like this group.
- Don't lose Kulak to Expansion. We need him on our bottom pair next year.
- Bring back Stone if he's cheap, but DO NOT sign him to 4.5 x 5 or something stupid like that. Oh, and stay the heck away from Alzner too. If Stone isn't cheap, then go into next season with an open roster spot. Good teams do it every year.
- Bring in Kevan Miller for our bottom pair as the right D. Kulak-Miller as the third pair.
- Bring back Kris Versteeg and Alex Chiasson on cheap deals
- Get Vegas to take on Brouwer's albatross in expansion instead. Offer whatever it takes (Except Kulak/Jankowski/Parsons/Kylington/Andersson/Core). Maybe Hickey's rights will be a nice little incentive if he has instilled a lack of confidence in getting him signed.
- Trade Matt Stajan and Lance Bouma for any assets you can get so that there is a roster spot for Jankowski and Lazar both.
On a more unlikely list of hopes, that I'm are aren't about to happen because the standards are pretty low in this org:
- Let Brian Burke go and bring in someone who doesn't still think we need to fill the bottom of our lineup with Bolligs, Engellands, Bartkowskis, and Brouwers to compete in the west.
- Let Treliving go and bring in someone with more vision than turning us into the 2012 Arizona Coyotes.
- Let Gulutzan go and bring in someone with more vision than turning us into the 2015 Vancouver Canucks.

I'm so worried were gonna overpay for Bishop. Let's take an offseason away from big money UFA's..... unless it's Alzner.

Your off season wishlist
1) Re-sign Tre
2) find a solid goalie. If bishop can be picked up on a 3 year, that be amazing
3) fire Sigalet
4) find a strong 1st line RW to support Johnny
5) hope Brouwer gets picked up in the expansion draft
6) re-sign Versteeg for sure
7) re-sign stone and Englland
8) get rid of chaisson, bouma, stajan, and get some crash bang boom kids in with limited minutes

Wish #1: If for some sick reason, Brouwer is still around... Strip him of the 'A' and give it to Backlund.

find a good goalie, there should be lots available with the expansion draft (grubauer, darling, fleury) and ufa (bishop)
do a thorough review of sigalet's work
re-sign versteeg/chiasson if cheap
dump brouwer however they can, it's not going to get easier from here, and bouma/stajan if possible
do not re-sign engelland
re-sign stone if cheap, if not please ffs give a young defenseman a real shot and let them keep playing after they make the team out of camp instead of sitting them for pto trash like grossmann and bartkowski
skilled rw who can skate and make plays and fits in the age range (2017 1st should be available)
top 4 rhd who can skate and pass

1. A new GM
2. Darryl Sutter as coach
3 Fire the rest of the staff and let Darryl hire who he wants
4. An actual NHL starting goalie
5. A fourth line and a 5/6 pairing of cheap young players

Bishop? Really?
This idea reads like the next big goaltending flop for this team. Don't think an overpaid Bishop is going to solve our problems

- Bring back Stone
- Work on Versteeg, but don't over do it and beat out a competitive market of that's case. I think he'll want to sign here though, due to being close to hom and the familiarity and success he had here.

Axe Sigalet.
Let Elliott and Johnson walk.
Use expansion to get rid of Brouwer.
Make mental note to stop recruiting former Blues. (Jk... maybe)
Retain Versteeg and Stone.
Attempt to get a true consistent #1. Gillies will start ~20 games.
Use the 1st to draft a dman.
Tell Johnny that every day is leg day, effective May 1.

No more big ufa contracts.
1. Get a ####ing #1 centre or we are going to be a one and done team for the rest of the time with this core while the teams around us have #1 centres (edm,la,sj,anaheim)
Monahan for Tavares straight up. Isles do it because Tavares has 1 year left so they get a younger player with better control. Flames take a huge risk of Tavares no re-signing but there is no other way we acquire a #1 centre that is realistic. And we only make the trade if Tavares expresses interest in re-signing beforehand. I would rather keep Backlund for defensive matchups and Bennett doesnt have the value or cap to make it work.
2.Get a ####ing goalie ffs. Re-sign Johnson he was a good backup. Trade for Graubauer. Our 2nd+3rd (similer to Talbot trade)
3. Re-sign stone and 2 depth dmen who can actually defend. Like a hamhuis and someone to a 2 year deal.
4. Offer Vegas our first to take Brower and Bouma (expose one and trade one after to them as agreed before. Gives us some cap flexibility which is important. A first would be 5 years down the road and even than its likely a late first never makes the nhl.
5.revamp our bottom 6. Make some trades, sign guys like matt martin type players who are actually good 4th liners and use kids from the farm.
6. Biggest thing is hoping Bennett makes a jump and Jankowski can step into the nhl as a third liner (unlikely). If Jankowski comes out strong move Bennett to the wing and glue them together hope for a 30 pt seasom from jankowski and a 50 point from Bennett. Dont see him as a good centre long term.
7. Most important hope Gaudreau and Brodie get back in form and Hamilton and Gio amd Backlund maintain form. This happens and if we get good goaltending even without doing the rest we make it.

Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Bennett-Jankowksi-Lazar

I think the Tavares scenario is very unlikely, interesting but I highly doubt the Flames would risk Tavares leaving as a UFA.

- Re-sign Tre
- Find a goalie for a 3 yr deal, don't care who just make sure he knows how to use his glove
- Re-sign stone
- Do your best to unload the 4th line vets
- Fire the goalie coach
- Sign another good Dman, don't overpay
- Draft a Dman, preferable Foote or Hauge
- get a top 6 RW
- re-sign Versteeg

I agree its unlikely but i dont see any other semi-realistic scenario for a #1c. And u dont make that trade if u dont think he will re-sign
