Arnold Palmer Passes Away at 87
As per Sportsnet.ca ticker.
What a legend. Transcended his sport.

First professional win was at the Canadian Open in 1955
Also won 4 times where Canadian Al Balding was the runner up (according to Wikipedia)

Largest personality in the history of the sport. The golf world will be rocked by this. It will certainly dampen the Ryder Cup.

Wow.
One of the biggest icons in a sport that has had a few of them.
Arnies army was quite a thing back in the day and he was Tiger Woods before Tiger Woods was. Brought a whole new level of popularity to the game just as TV was figuring out that golf was good for them.
RIP Arnie.

One of the greats if not the greatist the golfer the world has ever known
RIP Arnie! You will be missed!
My brother met Arnie in 2013 at the Masters par 3 contest. Very personable.

Fitting he died on a day with such a great like TV golf event. Obviously without him TV golf wouldn't be what it is today, and I'm sure many fewer people would be playing golf.

Wow, anyone just hear Fred Couples break down on a call with golf channel? Shows how loved Palmer was.

Here's a link to it, it's heartbreaking to hear Couples break down like that.

So within 12 months we lose:
Jonah Lomu
Gordie Howe
Mohammed Ali
Arnold Palmer
That's 4 athletes who were bigger than their sports. What a loss.

Just outside the 12 month window (by three days), but Yogi Berra as well. It's been a really tough year.
