GAME 12: RedBlacks at STAMPEDERS
Game Time: 3:00pm Saturday, September 17th
McMahon Stadium
Televised: TSN, ESPN3
Ottawa Redblacks(5-4-1, 1st in the East) after the Bye Week is travelling to Calgary to play the Calgary Stampeders(9-1-1, 1st in West). The last time they played, the game went to an overtime and ended in a tie 26-26.
Last week Calgary had a brutal start and 1st half against Edmonton. Edmonton's first play was a 104-yards TD by Derel Walker and they did not recover in that half at all. Tommi Campbell in particular had a brutal first half getting beat on 2 TD passes by Mike Reilly. Adarius Bowman caught 26-yards TD was the other Eskimos who beat out Campbell in the end zone.
OFFENSE:
It's been awhile since Bo Levi Mitchell and his offense played flat in the first half. For some reason the offense couldn't do much in that first half.
Mitchell and the offense rebounded in the 2nd half. Bo ended up passing for 338 yards and 3 TDs with 1 INT. R Davaris Daniels, one of the Top Performer in the CFL for the Week had a good game again. Daniels is making Joe West return to the lineup very difficult with his huge performance again. He ended up catching 6 passes for 113 yards and scored 2 TDs. Daniels also connected with Mitchell on a 2-point conversion TD in OT.
RB Jerome Messam rushed 11 times for 52 yards and also made 4 catches for 28 yards. Messam is very effective in the 2nd half. R Anthony Parker also rushed 2 times for 19 yards. He caught Mitchell's pass 4 times for 38 yards.
R Bakari Grant is another reason why Dickenson insertion of West in the lineup is very difficult. Early in the season, DD can just sit Daniels to play Joe West. Lately both Daniels and Grant have been playing well. Grant ended up with 6 catches for 89 yards and 1 TD. Andrew Buckley scored the other TD for the Stamps.
Roy Finch did okay as a returner but one of the highlight for the Stamps was the YAK yards by Finch on a second and long in the 4th quarter. Mitchell dumped a pass to Finch and Finch took care of the rest and gained 21 yards for an important first down. A play later Stamps scored a TD on Mitchell to Grant.
Offensive Line did well considered they lost 2 linemen in the game due to injury. Shane Bergman left the game in the first half then rookie Grozman left in the 4th quarter. Last game was the first time they gave up a QB sack with 2 by newcomer DL Philip Hunt.
DEFENSE:
Defense had probably the worst game in the first half. Giving up 2 TD on passes and a rushing TD by QB Mike Reilly. In the second half they turned it around as they shut down the Eskimos offense and only gave up a field goal in the 2nd half.
DT Junior Turner had a quarterback sack and he also filled in as an OLine late in the 4th and 2 OT periods. Charleston Hughes had the other sack.
Tommi Campbell who had a rough first half bounced back in the second and ended up tied with DB Brandon Smith with 8 tackles. Jamar Wall had 6 tackles in the game.
MLB Alex Singleton will now assumed the starting MLB spot after Stampeders released MLB Taylor Reed. Singleton has been spectacular ever since his field time has been increased. With his good play this season, he made Taylor Reed expendable. Having a Canadian starter in MLB position will give the Stamps options to add an American OL in the lineup or even insert Joe West in the lineup. Singleton ended up with 5 defensive tackles and 2 special team tackles against Edmonton.
SPECIAL TEAM:
Another success by the ST coverage team limiting a returner to a minimal gain. The only time they gave up a big gain on the return was on the FG missed by Paredes. Eskies Returner Kenzell Doe ran it for 74 yards.
K Rene Paredes streak for consecutive successful FG attempt ended in 32 after he missed a 47-yard FG in the 1st half. He ended up with 2 for 3 last game.
Returner Roy Finch had an average game returning punt 3 times for 43 yards and 3 kickoff return for 50 yards. When Finch got hurt after that 21-yard reception, Lamar Durant returned a punt in Finch absence for 16 yards gain.
OPPONENTS:
Last time these two team played against each other, it ended up with 26-26 tie. QB Trevor Harris threw for 396 yards with 3 TDs and 1 INT. R Chris Williams(130 yards) and Sean Ellingston(101 yards) was his favorite target for the game. RB Nik Grigsby rushed for 65 yards in that game also.
************************************************** ********
Stamps defense need to keep playing smothering defense against Trevor Harris and Redblacks offense. Harris is a young QB who can throw the ball and also use his feet running the ball if need to.
OG Dan Federkeil is officially out of 6-games injured list and his timing is actually perfect as our OLine are pretty banged up again. Shane Bergman, Grozman and Pierre Lavertu status for Saturday's game is still up in the air as of this point.
GO STAMPS GO!!

Fix your thread title, it's the REDBLACKS' name that's in all-caps.

I don't like the black helmets that Calgary wears with the predominately white uniforms on the road, I think they should wear red helmets all the time (exception being the signature uniforms which I think are fantastic).

Post practice: Thursday, Sept 14th.
OL Shane Bergman left with slight concussion last game did not practice again. Dickenson says it is precautionary.
RB Jerome Messam, DT Micah Johnson and DE Frank Beltre also did not practice but will be in the lineup on Saturday.
RB Tory Harrison practiced yesterday but might still sit the Saturday game.
Good news DB Ciante Evans practiced yesterday and Dickenson says he is looking good. Glad his injury wasn't that bad.
OL Randy Richards and some other linemen were practicing out of position. Ucambre Williams was practicing as a centre. No word on Lavertu status yet.

Figure this as good a place as any...we have a game used Bo Levi signed football for a silent auction taking place today. The ball, without a signature, retails for $135. Any idea what the value could be for a starting bid?
TIA!

Stamps depth chart versus the REDBLACKS - No Ciante Evans, but Dan Federkeil returns to the OL.

Dan Federkeil, Cam Thorn and Randy Richards are going in the lineup today. Richards will play left tackle usually occupied by Derek Dennis who will move to left guard position.
Brandon Boudreaux and Osagie Odiassie are also going in the lineup. It looks like Joe West will be sitting out again. Poor guy. Whenever he plays well he gets hurt then when it is time to get back in the lineup the guy who usually replaced him while injured plays well so tough for the HC to put him back in the lineup.

Pretty good fake handoff by Mitchell. Ottawa took the bait and McDaniel was wide open for a TD. Missed the 2-point convert again.

Great start thus far but i dont understand going for 2 on that last TD though. Kick the point and its a 2 possesion game....now it can be tied with a TD and 2 pt. play by Ottawa.
