I'm with sun on this one. Celebrity means pretty much nothing to me but David Bowie was another thing entirely. I'm genuinely upset about this.
I grew up in the 70's and 80's and David Bowie was a massive influence in my youth. I still listen to his music today while driving back and forth from the coast.
I'm so sad to hear of his passing.
RIP Starman...

Huge loss. I was a big fan, far from the biggest but I have everything he's done. I remember renting his CDs from the library and liking each one a little more than the last. My friend has a mounted picture of Bowie in his living room, he's probably shedding a tear right now ha.
Listening to him now and reminiscing. I certainly became a fan after his prime (my first memory of him was in Labyrinth and I never had any notion of him beyond that character when I was little) but I love a lot of the music he made. He did his thing and did it very well - carried my mind away to other worlds.

It took me two seconds to realize this is even a possibility. Woah. I never considered myself "a fan", but there's no arguing with all that fantastic music.
He just released a new album 3 days ago, his 69th birthday. Reading reviews it sounds like the music acknowledges that perhaps the end was near. One of the 2 or 3 greatest solo artists of all time.

That sucks. Truly an original and talented artist. Seemed like a good guy too.
There's a rumour that he collaborated on the new Gorillaz album that is being released. I hope that ends up being true. It would be nice to enjoy some more of his work one more time.
