Rich Stubler is leaving the Stamps to join the Argos and it sounds like Devone Claybrooks will take over as defensive co-ordinator.

@SUNMitchell Dave Dickenson confirmed Rich Stubler will not be back. He's heading to the #Argos. #CFL

@SUNMitchell Doesn't sound like anyone was overly happy with Rich Stubler's exit. Unexpected might be an understatement. #CFL

Claybrooks on DC job: “We have yet to determine that. Life's good, I can't complain. Of course I would be very interested in the promotion."

Stamps announcement. Jon Cornish's retirement most likely.

Tough to see his career cut short but I applaud him for stepping back and taking his health first. Fantastic career Jon.

Well said Otto-matic, no sense further risking your health after accomplishing pretty much all you can as far as your football career is concerned. Enjoy retirement Jon.

I guess that begs the question, would you rather have Jerome Messam or Andrew Harris in the Stamps backfield? I don't think the Lions have any interest in re-signing Harris.

I may lean to Harris, with his age giving him the slight edge.

I'd probably go with Messam, he knows the playbook and players already.

Maybe we'll see Jon in the front office with the team.

Congrats to Cornish on a great career. The CFL is certainly worse off without him. Would have loved to have him on the Riders 3 or 4 years ago.

Wonder if the Stamps look at going import at running back and saving some dough. Although if Messam wants to stick around they do have the depth to run a Canadian RB.

my 5-year old met Jon Cornish when she was 2, and ever since has called him her boyfriend when she watches Stamps games. He's a class act.

Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish on Wednesday announced his intention to retire from the Canadian Football League after an accomplished and record-breaking career with the Red and White.

“I’m very comfortable with my decision,” said Cornish. “Over the years with this team, I feel we’ve been able to achieve everything that is possible to achieve both as a team and as an individual.”

The 31-year-old New Westminster, B.C., product played a total of nine seasons with the Stampeders and won two Grey Cup rings, was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player in 2013 and the league’s Most Outstanding Canadian on three occasions.

Nice press conference by Cornish.

Said he was going to retire if he got one more concussion or at the end of this past season, either way 2015 was the end for him. Decided this last year. Nice he can walk away on his own terms without any real health effects.

Wants to get his financial planning designation started sooner rather than later.

In 20 years I bet he could be commissioner of the league

Yeah Cornish is a class act all the way even if he did moon the Riders fans.

Hard to believe he only started 60 games as a Stampeder (according to something I read somewhere).

What he packed into that shortened career is remarkable and will land him into the CFL HoF.
