Helmut Sandrock has resigned as German football federation general secretary, a week before the release of a report into alleged dubious payments to Fifa surrounding the 2006 World Cup bid.
This comes after ex-president Wolfgang Niersbach resigned in November after claims he knew about and assisted in the making of payments to secure votes.

Infantino has won the Presidency. 115 to 88. Making his speech now.
First time in 40 years a UEFA backed candidate has won.

I love the incredible number of 'Can Infantino clean up FIFA' articles?
I'm not exhaustively familiar with him, but hes Italian, a culture not exactly notorious for their by-the-book, above-board and incorruptible nature.

I only know the dude from the CL draws. I always thought all he'd do all year was practise his ball opening skills.

Maybe thats how it all went down. Everyone had to put their votes in those little Kinder soccer balls and he was the only one who could open them.
"1 vote for Infantino! Ah! Ah! Ah! 2! Votes for Infanitino! Ah! Ah! Ah! 3! 3 votes for Infantino! Ah! Ah! Ah!"
And so on and so forth 115 times or whatever. Who know if he was telling the truth, hes the only one that can open those god-forsaken balls!

I think he has some good points:
1. He never intended to run, only ran because Platini got suspended and UEFA needed a representative.
2. Since he entered late, he's had to do a heavy campaign around the world.
3. He's won the vote today on the support of 3 Confederations (UEFA, CONMEBOL and CONCACAF). Frankly these are the 3 confederations that we care about and have been shutout by Blatter. No more false promises to Africa and Asia.
Some plans:
1. He was the man behind the multi-venue Euro 2020 plan. Wants to do the World Cup this way too. Who knows. Canada one day might host a World Cup group instead of a full event.
2. He's pro instant replay
3. Expand the World Cup to 40 teams. He says even at 40 teams that's only 20% of the members. Comparatively Euros will have 24 out of 53. Almost 50%.

To add to the above I'm curious if he'll ever be able to get that dying World Club Cup off the ground. He was one of the masterminds behind UEFA Champions League marketing success.

FIFA hires new Secretary General
replaces Jerome Valcke who is banned for 12 years.
Senegalese Woman with no football background. Works for the UN.
Looks like a good start, get away from football-biased cronies.

Is there any African official, outside of the late Nelson Mandela, who is/was not corrupt?

Well that was quick. We might need to re-name this 'The ongoing FIFA Corruption' thread.
Quote:
Gianni Infantino, elected as FIFA's president as recently as five months ago, may reportedly be suspended from his role.
According to Richard Conway of BBC Sport, Infantino is to be interviewed by FIFA's Independent Committee due to allegations that he breached the FIFA Code of Ethics. He will apparently meet with Robert Torres, a member of the committee's investigatory chamber, and could be suspended for up to 90 days if there is sufficient evidence to open a full investigation is opened.

Furthermore, Infantino is allegedly "very confident" that no action will be taken, with sources close to him calling the allegations "absurd," "baseless," and part of a "vendetta" against the president by people who have recently left FIFA.

The German FA should just run FIFA & UEFA.
Would anyone actually oppose this?

Well...seeing as they're currently being investigated for buying the 2006 World Cup there might be an objection or two.
That being said though, they bought that World Cup quietly and efficiently.
