btw I thought I'd add. Playmemories app on a tablet or phone, sync with camera and transfer pics, then upload to Google Drive.

This is how I solved my stolen memory card paranoia without having to lug around a laptop.

Thought I would jump on this thread.

I am looking for a beginner tripod ( 50" to 60") and approx. $100. I just really need a stable yet cheap tripod. Any recommendations where to shop? and which brands? I see that some range from $30 up to even $1000.

Thanks again.

Manfrotto tripods are stellar and you can get a good one of them at Best buy. Usually range around $80 to $120. A ball head is good. Probably wont get a bubble level at that range though.

You can get 3 axis shoe mount bubble levels for under $5 shipped online from Asian. See deal extreme or similar.

Hey guys,

Thanks again for the heads up on the tripod. Just curious now as to lighting. I am not sure where to start really. I checked the camera store and Vistek, and can't really find anything.

What kind of set up do you guys use for lighting? (ex. filming or photographing in a dark room or even outside) how expensive can it get?

Thanks again.

Default The "I'm buying a Camera and looking for input" thread.

Really depends what you want to do...and, like everything else in photography, it can get very expensive very fast.

I haven't done much work with lighting (yet), but I started looking at the Strobist blog (http://strobist.blogspot.ca/2006/03/...g-101.html?m=1) and I really like his "keep-it-simple" approach

More of a technical gear question but I recently purchased an Opteka fisheye lens for my Olympus mirrorless. Canon mount but came with the converter and my problem is that the focus barrel doesn't change the focus whatsoever. Have tried the lens on a spare Canon body I had and the problem still exists. Whether I'm at 0.3m or infinity, nothing changes leading me to believe that it's defective.
