Isles sign Matt Gaudreau to an ATO
Arthur Staple@StapeNewsday
#Isles also have signed F Matt Gaudreau (Boston College) to an ATO. 8-27-35 in 40 GP as a senior. Believe his brother plays a bit too.
Congrats to Matt.

Wonder if Johnny talked to Brad about signing him for Stockton at all?
Also, this:
Isles Road Warrior @IslesRW
@StapeNewsday for those unaware, his I believe his brother is Sean Monahan.

He might be a good press box buddy for Freddie.

Curious about how he's doing at BC, I found this article:
http://www.si.com/nhl/2016/12/15/mat...boston-college
Quote:
Another story, this time from high school. They’re attending midday church services, mandatory at Gloucester Catholic. With his classmates in the pews, John, then a junior, managed to wedge some toothpicks into the cracks between seats, mostly hidden but sticking out enough to hurt.
“One of his friends on the hockey team sat down and screamed,” Matty recalls. “The teacher came over and yelled at another one of John’s friends, while John sat there quietly.” The friend protested, pointing to the real culprit, but the teacher wouldn’t buy it. No chance John would be up to mischief like that. Matty wasn’t actually there, but the experience rang true. “I definitely was the kid who always took the fall for him,” he says. “The more outspoken you are, the more you get in trouble.”
Even today, this is accurate. Listed as the smallest B.C. player by 25 pounds, Matty also leads the team with 38 penalty minutes, including back-to-back 10-minute misconducts against Merrimack and Providence in late October. This led legendary Eagles coach Jerry York to have a talk. “He said, ‘You’re going to get called on those things because the refs don’t like you because you talk too much,” Gaudreau recalls. “It was definitely the same thing as in grade school. You don’t want to be known as the bad guy who talks.”

Bridgeport is the affiliate for the Islanders. Maybe a contract if he does well?
He went to the Devils development camp in 2015.

The Sportsnet crew is standing by and ready to put in Matt Gaudreau's photo in-place of Johnny's photo for the 3 star selection.

He led Boston College in points this season, and BC has 9 NHL draft picks on their roster.

Other than Colin White, they're all 3rd round or later picks.
White led the team in Pts/G, Gaudreau just played more games because White went to the World Jrs. Gaudreau was actually 4th on the team in Pts/G.

After years of often having star player x's brother on our squads, it's nice to be on the other side of that coin.

Now I got curious of how many examples of this there really are.
Since 2000 there are as far as I can see Rob Niedermayer, Wayne Primeau, Staffan Kronwall and Niklas Andersson. Also Max Reinhart, Markus Granlund and Drew Shore in recent times. Freddie Hamilton obviously, but in that case we have the star brother on the roster as well, same with Richie Regehr.
Valeri Bure was the worse brother but still a star in his own right.
What star Brothers did we have? Dougie of course. Miikka Kiprusoff has been mentioned already and Robyn Regehr. Ronald Petrovicky was the better brother though a pretty poor one. A kind of funny case could actually also be made that Rico Fata was the best player between him and his brother, even though it's a terrible, terrible stretch.
I would say that it's slightly skewed towards the worse brothers, but all in all pretty much a wash.
