DareDevil (Netflix) Discussion
Hi All,
Thought maybe people would want a thread about the show. I started it with the intention of trying to just watch it every Friday and spent the weekend binging on it. Very well done, I enjoy the tone and the action is much more hard-hitting, realistic and violent than you would expect. I especially enjoyed the scenes with Murdoch as a lawyer, I think the actor nails it and has a voice that draws you in when he speaks.
Definitely well done, and 100x better than the Affleck movie.

I quite enjoyed it. Certainly more than Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. A fine addition to the MCU, and it makes me eager to see how the other upcoming Netflix shows build on this.

I am just going to copy what I posted in the Ongoing Comic Books Movie thread.
I am on episode 12. I love how gritty they made the series. It actually feels a lot like Batman Begins but with a lot more violence.
What I like about Daredevil in particular is how every time he goes out to fight crime he takes a good beating himself. Murdock really is new to the vigilante stuff and I like how the series depicts his inexperience and his struggle to define who he is and how far he's willing to go. I think it's a great character to tackle in a TV format and so far I've been very impressed.
I mentioned it before but man the fight scenes have been great. Definitely not what I was expecting to see on a TV show. I hope they do as good of a job with the Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones shows.
It will be interesting to see if he makes a cameo appearance in any of the upcoming Marvel films and/or if he'll have a role in the Civil War movie.

Maybe we should have spoilers in here? I'd be interested to see peoples takes on specific things.
I'll add to title if people want it.

Probably, since I doubt they effect the show very much. Only downside is I don't think many people read it.

Fisk's character is really good. Not a great fan of the other leads, and there's a lot of disbelief to suspend.
But since I've watched the whole thing in 3 days, I suppose I can't complain.

Well I spoiled one thing for myself with this thread, BUT, it wasn't something that I didn't see coming.
I think my two favorite characters are Foggy and Wesley. The right hands to the main characters.

After watching it all, I kind of wished Karen Page hadn't made it out if the first episode.

Just finished it up, and I thought it was pretty awesome. Really liked how dark this series is compared to the rest of the Marvel film universe we've seen, gives me hope that they might do a proper Punisher series one day. Completely blows away the network comic series like Arrow and Gotham, Netflix just allows them so much more freedom which inevitably results in much better quality. I'm looking forward to seeing how they tie in Daredevil now to the future film universe, and prior to the series he was one of my least favorite characters

I dunno, while the series was good, I wouldn't go so far to say grimdark = quality.

Daredevil is a comic series that I never got into. I think I read one DD graphic novel in my life.
This series is by far the best out of all the live action TV series to date. I tried very hard to ease through it and limit myself to 2 episodes a day, but alas, I failed. This was a very well written story.
I really enjoyed the way the main characters DD and Fisk were written. Both struggling and both showing depth. How many people here had sympathy for Fisk? I loved how he played on all the insecurities. How many here cared that he took down the Russian Crime ring? Sure, some poor people lost their homes and lives, but you can't make an omelet without cracking a few eggs in a ceremonial fashion every morning.
The production value was extremely high and the hallway fight scene was shot masterfully. The music editing was also a plus.
The downsides to it. Charlie Cox still has a bit of an accent. Deborah Ann Woll has no range and she felt like the same character in True Blood without the fangs. Vincent D'Onofrio isn't quite big enough to be Wilson Fisk, but his acting was spectacular. However, I'm just being picky here.

Perhaps to no one's surprise Daredevil has been renewed for a second season.

Quote:
The Man Without Fear is coming back for a second season. Netflix and Marvel have announced that Marvel's Daredevil has been renewed for Season 2, which will debut in 2016.
However, in a notable change up, the series will have new showrunners. Steven S. DeKnight, who was showrunner for the first season, will not be returning, with Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez now running Daredevil together. Both wrote for the first season of Daredevil, with Ramirez previously writing for Sons of Anarchy and Petrie another alum of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, along with DeKnight and Daredevil executive producer Drew Goddard.
