The Santa Fe and Rogue don't compare to the Outback at all. Get the Outback because it is a superior car, don't worry about what people think.

Maybe you should buy a car that fits your lifestyle, and date women who enjoy said lifestyle.

Then the type of vehicle won't matter much.

What practicality do you need as a single male? I miss when my corvette was all I needed. Now I need something not only with rear seats , but also fits baby seats.

Get something completely unpractical and enjoy it while you can

All Jeeps have the seven slot grill. This is just a variation brought on by the overall design.

Once you've decided on the car, maybe this will help with the colour choice..

white.

and just my opinion, if you're 25 it may be time to drop the "my" from your name.

There is only one car I can recommend for you. This is what I know - all my enthusiast friends drive minivans.

You should attract a lot of women with the Outback, but it might not help your single situation much.

Girls don't know anything about cars. get the Subaru and tell them it's twin-turbod and it does a 11 second 1/4 mile with a snowmobile in the back.

I thanked this, but I can only agree with it provided you heed the following caveat:

If you find a woman who is genuinely into cars (not "ooh it's pretty" into cars, but "my dad and I used to build old Mopars together" into cars), then you've hit the goddamn jackpot.

Get the subaru, you won't regret it. I have an 09 outback with the V6. I love it. Such an awesome vehicle in the winter, can haul a lot of stuff. Great resale value. I can't say I have ever heard any subaru owner regret their purchase.

The new ones are a little bigger than mine, a little taller as well.

Is it a good car to pick up girls in?... depends on what you are using it to do. Skiing, biking, camping, hiking, climbing etc. There are lots of girls that really like that stuff. If you tell them you use it to haul your two kids hockey bags around...depends on the girl. :-)

Buy this and drive it around town, pulling up to girls and wolf whistling. I mean this is what you really want and its probably good on gas

I'm the same age as you (Well 24 for another month. Im going to milk that month as much as I can).

The way I looked at it was that there is a good chance that this is probably the last new car you will be able to buy without having to worry about family or anything like that...

So I bought a Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Cause fun > practicality. Plus, it's practical enough for two people. I've taken it camping and skiing with no issues.

None of the cars you listed (or cars in that price range) are going to impress girls... But are you seriously worried about what girls think of your car? As long as it's newer car and you're not picking them up in a mini-van, it will be a non-factor.

I bought the Hyundai Tiburon (the predecessor to the Genesis) 11 years ago when I was in your situation. Barely had any mechanical issues, that thing has been everywhere - even onto a drilling rig lease. I love that car, it's still going strong, and for two people, you said it, practical enough. When I needed a truck, I bought an older, used truck. Good choice.

I'm in the same boat, but I'm a few years older at 29.

For those exact reasons, I've said screw it... I'm just going to buy a damn exotic.

I haven't seen anyone mention the most obvious (real) solution to OPs question. Get a WRX or STI hatchback. Will give you the practicality and safety/AWD of the Outback but is awesomely fun and fast.

A friend recently bought the new Forrester XT (turbo). Nice car inside and out with decent performance. It is a hatchback/wagon with lots of room inside too. I think it's nicer looking than the outback.

Isn't it twice the size of an outback? Nice vehicle but that's the biggest in their fleet IIRC.
