I sort of like the "Strong and Free" option.

Personally I'm in favour of putting "Rick Bell Is An Assclown" on the plates

I vote for: "Edmonton Sucks."

I think the real question is:
How do we jihad this to get "Edmonton is no good" on the plates?

License plate slogans are probably the cheapest way for a province to promote itself around North America and it's not too uncommon for states and provinces to change them once in a while.
Wild Rose Country is nice, but if it starts getting associated with politics (even if just by coincidence), then it is probably time to change it. Nothing isolates people more than politics and religion.

That horrible 1979 font needed to go a long time ago, so I am in favour of a plate redesign. Removing "Wild Rose Country" is merely the PC's running scared politically, however. But this was expected as the Tories had the same plan a couple years ago when they first proposed changing the plate designs.

Personally I'm not sure why they don't embrace different options for plates.
The Riders plates in Sask made the province over half a million dollars in the summer of their launch (assuming it's much higher now but couldn't find numbers).
Make the basic one free, make a Flames/Stamps, Oilers/Eskimos, and a few other generic ones (mountain theme, ranch/stampede theme) for a fee. Negates the argument of "wasting tax money".
Montana has hundreds of designs from high schools to colleges to quilting clubs. Proceeds go to the state and the plate sponsor. That might be a bit excessive, but certainly something I think Alberta should look at.

We should just go towards European style license plates. For the most part, so much more classier looking. And it would look way better on the obscene amount of European luxury vehicles in this province.

I don't mind if they change the slogan, but I hope they keep the color scheme. There is something very classic and traditional about the red font on white background.

I actually like the font.
Calgary has been (maybe they have stopped now) using "Heart of the New West" as a slogan for the city. I wouldn't really mind "The New West" on our plates.

I may be in the minority here but I've always found "Wild Rose Country" kinda ghey....
That being said, it beats the crap out of "Idaho, the Potato State".

Ontario's is terrible as well. "Yours to Discover"... it's like right from a tourist pamphlet. The previous one "Keep it Beautiful" wasn't much better either.
I would take Wild Rose Country over either of those.

Because many North American cars and even North American versions of European cars have license plate mounts/cut-outs/brackets, etc. in the trunk space that is shaped for wide American plates and not for long/narrow Euro plates.

I'm still waiting for the "Support the troops" plates they said they were going to make available this year.
