Where does everyone get their dress shoes?
Just curious... Where does everyone purchase their dress shoes for work or pleasure? I've been a consistent Aldo guy myself, however I'm getting increasingly fed up with having to purchase new ones every 3-4 months after they fall apart.
Anyone have any good suggestions that won't break the bank? Or am I just following the wrong logic by cheaping out with with an $80-100 pair in the first place?
I've thought about looking online but I'm worried about not having the right size.
*Edit: Arrogantly assumed that I was speaking to only guys... My apologies to the ladies!

I bought my last pair at Shoe Company. Was just under $100 for the pair, and they have been great the last 4 months so far.
Unlike others I tried; these have enough of a sole that I'm not too uncomfortable standing or walking distances in them.

Reason: Got the name wrong; Shoe company not Shoe Warehouse.

I like Browns. Overpriced but shoe shopping is an absolute nightmare and the service is good.
I've been to other places and you end up waiting like 25 minutes just to find out they don't have the shoes you like in a size that fits. Total PITA.

Aldo shoes are made terribly and do fall apart that quickly. I used to hate spending money on shoes, but when you add up how much you spend on Aldo shoes, and the replacements, you are spending much more money there.
Try ecco shoes. They are comfy and a good entry level shoe. There are usually sales on them and would cost around $200. I have two pair, one of which is over five years old, and the other pair is two years old. They both still look like new.
If that is too much for you, look at Cole Haan. They are really comfy, as they are owned by Nike. The downfall is they aren't as dressy as most dress shoes, and are a little dull.
If you want to splurge, look at Allen Edmonds. They are awesome and should last forever if you get them resoled. They have pairs starting around $350 and can be bought at Harry Rosen.

IMO, for the $100 price range, you just can't beat the value of a pair of Doc's. Cover the yellow stitching with a sharpie for a more dress shoe look. Shoes are one of those things where spending more money really does equal a much better product. $160 shoes are miles better than a $100 pair.

Anyone got a good suggestion other than Geox for a type of nicer leather shoe that would breathe nicely?
I've got some stinky-ass feet when I get home from the office.

Get Allen Edmonds at half off retail. They are decent. Infinitely better than aldo (and 90% of other shoes) for sure. Should last you a few decades if you care for them. Not really my style, but:
They have a shoe size guide you can print on their site since you are unsure of your size.
Aldo is so bad. It would be understandable if they looked good, but most are hideous.

You are currently spending $100 bucks each on 3-4 pairs of shoes/year. Spend $300+ and get one pair that will last you minimum 10 years. Easy to justify the price IMO. Might as well pick up two pairs!

For serious dress shoes that last be sure to see O'Connor's shoe department. Allen Edmund's (some) can have their soles and heels fully replaced making the shoe as new if the leather is cared for and they only get better with time.
