Iggy has played for four teams since Calgary. He's not rumored to be anywhere near us, so I no longer care. I care about as much where Kevin Shattenkirk goes.

Lazar (management sees him as a third liner long-term, also play center)
Chiasson ( lots of posters saying not to offer him a contract, was actually quite good in the bottom 6)
Tkachuk (plays LW but has played RW has the most upside and skill of all wingers not named Gaudreau)
Versteeg (versatile skilled player, not under contract yet)

Don't see where Iginla fits here, he's not top end anymore which is the only RW we need. Personally I see him as a grinder at 5 on 5 with the skills to score on the power play. Doesn't bring much offence at even strength or defence really, but plays physically. I see him being more valuable to other teams.
1988 Joey Mullen isn't coming out of retirement to fill our first line rw void. Flames will have to fill it internally which leaves an opening. I'd much rather have Iginla than Chiasson.

I genuinely don't care, but I don't want him in Calgary. I wouldn't cheer for him on the Oilers but I wouldn't hold a grudge against the guy as a person. The "he'd be dead to me" comments seem a tad petty to me. For all we know the Oilers might be the only team who wants him at this point.

Could see the following teams having interest, playoff teams only.
Edmonton (cause they're no good)
Columbus (need leadership)
Nashville (need cheap good players, big name helps fan base)
Boston (history, window closing)
Chicago (love cheap players)
Pittsburgh (tight cap, want to build dynasty)
Blues (starting to think most teams could use an Iginla)

If Iggy doesn't want the cup or doesn't mind being deadline fodder then I see Carolina, NYI, and Vegas having interest.

Pure vodka fuelled speculations, no sources. There is no excuses.

I think it's more likely he goes to Edmonton, but not much chance of that either.

I don't see why this would upset fans, he has been gone so long, with so many teams in between. Almost like how Oiler fans didn't really care when Messier signed with division rival Vancouver.

I wouldn't be shocked to see him lace them up for the Blackhawks this year.

I still think Iginla finds a new contract. Best thing that happened to him was getting traded to LA.

If I am Pittsburgh, I would go out and sign Iginla. They got Reaves just to protect their players. Having Iginla on the 3rd or 4th line there with 2nd unit PP time would also help to fill that gap in.

If one were to believe Burke, Flames won't be looking at Iginla. I think he is an upgrade on Brouwer for his role, actually, though I concede a bounce-back season from Brouwer may erase it. Iginla's play is waning, without a doubt, and I can't imagine he has much more beyond a year left in the tank.

Some team will sign him. I am just not sure it will be a contender.

Exactly all of this. He will play the same role on any team he goes, and it's a role that the Flames need. I don't understand why both sides wouldn't be communicating.

Spencer Foo?

Seriously though, if people here were drafted by the Oilers (growing up a Flames fan), once you hit UFA status would you sign with your fav childhood team? Because, like it or not, Iginla grew up an Oilers fan (not his fault he didn't know any better).

Gaudreau Monahan Ferland
Backlund Frolik Jankowski
Tkachuk Bennett Iginla This line would be both a treat. Antagonizing, tenacious, tough, & skilled.
Lazar Stajan Versteeg

Brouwer Hathaway

I would be 100% in favour of Iggy returning.

Reading some of these posts you'd think it was the same as the Fleury come-back attempt.

For what it's worth, his mother shops at my family's store. When she was asked a few weeks ago about her thoughts, her response was "He would like to go somewhere like Washington"

The big emphasis was on his ideal team. Frankly given how good that team is year over year consistently, it's only a matter of time until they bust out and make a finals appearance. It could be a wise decision to go there cheap.

Imagine how painfully slow this team would be to watch...

Also, I'm not sure Ward is even better than Chad at this point
