Seems like Rafikov is getting scratched a lot and not getting very many shifts on his KHL team. On one hand this is not very good for his development but on the other it might convince him to go over to NA earlier, rather than seeing out his whole contract in Russia. At least then he can get used to the ice size etc.

Read in the Herald this morning that some of the KHL teams have been selling their star players to another team and some already went bankrupt. We might see a lot of KHL players moving and playing in North America. Maybe we will see Rafikov getting released or asking the Flames for transfer money.

The financial state of the KHL comes up regularly but it keeps on going, so I don't count much into that.

I think the lack of playing time is going to get to him eventually, unless he is just happy to keep cashing the cheque every week. I hope his agent is in his ear warning him that if he wants that big NHL payday he needs to get over to NA and start playing.

As noted in the Prospect Stats Thread, Rafikov has signed a new deal with Vladivostok Admiral who paid a monetary compensation to Lokomotiv to sign him. His contract with Lokomotiv was essentially bought out to move to Admiral.

Rafikov appears to have been buried in the Lokomotiv system as he was sent to HC Ryzen (VHL) and played only 4 games before being sent to Loko Yaroslav (MHL) to play 3 games. After the MHL demotion, he was looking for a new team.

He's slowly making his way over to North America by heading east!

I am starting wonder if the Flames don't pull him out of the KHL next season. After getting bounced around a fair amount, I can't imagine he is all that happy with how this season is going. Maybe talks happen and the Flames pay the transfer fee? I guess it depends on how sure they are on him, and if Rafikov wants to come over.

He's skipped dev camp for 2 years straight (3? I forget) first time was a late visa excuse, last time no excuse was given. He doesn't seem like he's that interested

Not sure what is going on with Rafikov. Since he has been traded back to Lokomotiv, he has only played in 1 of 3 games where he played 12:29.

Before he got traded back he was getting 20+ minutes per game in his last 5 games with Admiral.

I don't get why Lokomotiv re-acquired him.

Must be incredibly frustrating, pretty dickish of lokomotiv to bury him, trade him, then reaquire him just to bench him even more

Sure hope this guy comes over to NA next season so we can get a good look at him with the Heat.

Rafikov is leading his team with a +5 in the first 6 games of the KHL season, whatever that's worth.

He has a lone assist, which isn't far behind any of his D teammates and ahead of most others.

Last season he didn't break 17 minutes once for Lokomotiv, he's already done it three times this season.

From the minutes, he seems to be on their 3rd pair (KHL teams may have four D pairs though).

Not much more information I could glean from KHL box scores. At least he's playing regular minutes.

Haven't people accepted that he's probably never coming over by this point?

I don't think he's ever come over for a single dev camp since he's been drafted.
