Still not sure why they didn't just send him to Stockton.

Because they wanted to give him the chance to get an NHL job, which he got. Bouma didn't fit on the Flames anymore, that's all.

Bouma at a million dollar cap hit is a great contract and great player. He'll do well there.

Bouma at anything more than a $1.5 Million cap hit and his value isn't so good due to his durability issues.

I hope it works out well for him.

Dunno about the word great, at a million bucks its probably a slight overpay for what Bouma brings nowadays (which isn't much). He had one "great" scoring season at 16 goals and that's probably gotten him several extra years. Hell he never even put up 16 goals in the AHL or Junior!

Guy is a 4th liner and his physical game and durability is pretty much gone. There were some who warned about how quickly his game would peter out with his then reckless style. Loved him then but unfortunately not much of a player anymore. Great to him get another million from somewhere though, he's a great guy.

Yeah, the club ate cap space for the benefit of the player so he could get an opportunity to stay in the NHL. Although he is not in the Flames plans they did him a solid.

Buyout also saves the owners $766 667 in salary.

There has been a few times in recent years where the Flames have made transactions to reduce how much they have to pay players they project to be in the AHL.

Fair enough. I just think he would be good depth to have. And the gains in cap space were minimal. Good for them doing him a solid though.

Probably also doesn't hurt from a GM/player agent relationship point of view. Maybe gives the wizard a little mana boost.

I don't get why people are wishing him success. I don't. I don't him or his new team to do well. He's a rival now, thanks for that one good year...I hope it was your last good year!

Well I don't wish his team success but if he can be a regular contributor in their lineup I would be happy for him. He's not a very talented player but you could never question his effort and that's not the type of player you hope to see fail.

I actually think this is a bit of an overpayment. In my mind his stock dropped a lot last year.

Yes I'm a little surprised he got a one way deal. This is a big year for him, no doubt.
