Do they really just cut the throat? I would think that would a) be dangerous and b) extremely messy.

Yup they use a machine that lifts the cows head up and then a guy cuts it's throat.

It's very messy.

I'm sure you can find videos on youtube.

They prey to god while sliting the throat for an instant no-pain kill. More humane than electrocution? (I don't even know how places like Cargill slaughter the livestocks...)

Haha, it was good to see religious decorum observed, even in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.

The Calgary location added an Alberta steak option shortly after they opened due to the backlash over only having USDA Prime. Personally I like the USDA corn fed steak they have, it has a different texture and flavour and is a nice change to the Alberta beef I usually eat.

The Sklar Brothers do a great bit around the odd name of Ruth's Chris.

Where is Chris, and what has Ruth done to him?

In Canada, they must stun the animal before killing it anyway.
In some other parts of the world, halal animals are not stunned and can suffer a lot more during this killing practice.

Yeah, if I go to a beef place I'm getting prime rib. Because that's something I can't do at home on my grill in 15 minutes.

It's funny you ask, apparently Creekstone Farms, the new supplier for Earls, is 100% halal beef. So there you go I guess... And as mentioned, halal is hardly a humane method of slaughter which shows that Earl's decision and explanation is nothing more than a PR move.

My wife grew up in Pakistan and was traumatized during eid. Every gets almost a bloodlust and will line up goats along the street and slit their throats. She was young and didn't know what they were doing so she would make friends with the animals and on eid would see them slaughtered in the street. She says the sounds the animals made is a sound she won't be able to get out of her head.

We're talking about killing something.

I dont think anyone wants to inflict any excess pain and suffering on animals so quick and relatively painless is the order of the day, but it seems like a tenuous stretch from 'method of slaughter' to 'dinner.'

AS though one set of circumstances will affect the decision of the other.

I mean so long as you didnt run it over with your car and it still has the treadmarks on it I think we're pretty well good to go.

This is also why I sew my own clothes out of "found" fabric I obtain in dumpsters.

You deluded sheeple.

Creekstone Farms is in AB. So would they not be producing AB beef?

Lol what kind of sounds do you think animals make when they are killed here?

Not trying to be a dick but you don't need anyone telling you animals make weird noises when they're killed.

"Omg they lined up cows and killed them and they turned them into Big Macs"

I don't think people really understand how the meat they eat is killed. Did you think the meat you eat is cuddled to death? More than likely their throat was slit too.

The only Creekstone Farms I can find is the one based in Kansas. http://www.creekstonefarms.com/contact.html

And based on the logo on the twitter exchange between @earlsrestaurant and @CreekstoneFarms, this is the one they are sourcing their beef from now.
