Originally it was rumoured that McDavid would rest tonight. Curious to see if Kucherov being ahead on the all-time assists per season list at the moment changes that.

Not that I would ever wish it (out loud anyway) but rushing back from injury for an individual stat award, only to get injured before playoffs feels like it would be the most McDavid thing ever

Not sure what you mean. They are tied at 100 for this season, and McDavid has more career assists. And more assists per game.

I just mean most lists have Kucherov first, I'm assuming they revert to alphabetical, or overall points? Not sure, but even if you look at NHL.com they are tied but have Kucherov listed first. Even hockey reference has Kucherov first, we'll see how petty McDavid is.

Because they know McDavid pumped his own assists by not shooting and choosing the pass option everytime. He'll finish with the lowest goals since his first 2 seasons.
Kucherov on the other hand still filled the net, scoring a career-high 44 goals. He also has 1:12 les TOI/GP.
It's clear who the best offensive player in the world is. Sorry McLoser.

And buddy is only doing the chant as he looks around to make sure he’s in a group of…what’s the collective noun…safely in the middle of a stink of oilers fans.

It wasn't completely meaningless. If they meet Colorado in the playoffs, Colorado will have home ice now. The Oilers are a good home team and an average road team so that's not nothing. They'll have to get to Colorado first but if they do, tonight's game mattered.
