I haven't seen my actual WIN card in years. They always just look it up to make sure I have a current number when I get my license.

Caught this brownie this morning whilst fishing for chubs for bait.
She was delicious.

So I got a walleye tag for Pigeon. Any suggestions on here for fishing Pigeon from a kayak?

^ you can use bait, right? I don't really do that kind of fishing much (if I can help it basically). If so though bring a pound of bacon and you will catch fish for sure.

Not sure about Pigeon specifically but my buddy caught a huge Walleye bottom bouncing with little dead fish things from a dish as bait on his regular fishing rod on a different lake.

Fly fishing the Bow the other night I landed a brown and a rainbow on dry fly, elk hair caddis, which i'm pretty happy about, my first on dries this season. : )

Walleye - troll a jig (weighted head with hook) with a worm attached. Jerk the jig back and forth while trolling. Change depths until you get bites.

Slava, a pound of bacon is new to me! I did see some people catching walleye at little bow PP last year with breakfast sausages, so I guess it works. We usually use bait fish, which is allowed at Pigeon this year too.

Do you guys ever research using the Bathymetry maps available on the AB gov site for specific lakes to find some good spots for fishing? I found the Pigeon lake map, just curious what you guys think are good spots in general. I have found a few places that have steep drop offs next to fairly shallow areas. So drops to 10m from about 3 or 4m, would it be good to troll along those edges?

Anyway, I am still pretty new to all this fishing and learning what to use for each species and from a kayak, this will be my first year using any sort of boat.

Thanks guys for your suggestions.

Yes, fish around the drop offs.

Anyone do any fishing in Manitoba?

I'm planning on going to Caddy Lakes for the weekend, but I've only fished maybe a few times.

Yeah I just know guys fish that way for Walleye and they have a lot of luck. Like if you do that at Pine Coulee you basically can't keep them off.

Yeah just like a chunk or strip or whatever. I would put it on a jig head hook if it was me and apparently it's good. Like I say I don't fish that way so it's kind of second hand more than good info, unless you land an Alberta record, in which case I'll take the credit!

Some Bow river fish pics. Biggest one is a cutbow (cuttbow?) everyone seems to spell it different, anyhow you can see in the face shot the orange under its jaw and it was also a bit of gnarly fish with a messed up face, like a big hole in it's cheek. The Bow is fishing well even with the higher water and not the best visibility.

For walters if you aren't sure where to find them I would troll a crank bait at the various drop offs you've located through out the lake. Once you catch move back to that spot and start jigging with leeches, just the jig head and a leech, no body. Or if you are lazy just keep passing over that drop off, it helps to zig and zag then you will hit a few different depths. Let more line out to get deeper.

This is my favourite crank bait out there, I've always used the perch but lately I find the yellow perch pattern to be the top performer.

I would say right around now they are sitting in 10-15 feet of water hugging structure at the bottom of a drop off. If you can find a rocky point that is a magnet.. but be weary of your depth and snagging this lure, with the dollar in the crapper they aren't cheap right now.
