Well, we lost the series because of Elliott, and because Gulutzan had too much faith in Elliott both at the end of game 3 and to start this game.
Other than that I think the team was fine. Even with Gaudreau playing pretty bad, I feel we were generally the better team in this series. We even won the faceoff battle in the last two games, which is no small feat considering the Ducks are among the best faceoff teams.
A lot of positives for the future. Bring back Versteeg.

That's the first sweep against the Flames in 21 years.

Hopefully that Ducks horseshoe stays where it is if they play the Oil.
I hope for an all-California series next, that would be entertaining. Though watching the Ducks hurt the Oilers would be fun too. So long as Ducks lose to whoever makes it out of the Central I'll be happy.

Flames sucked. Most of the year in my opinion outside 2 streaks.
Flames rebuild has got us some nice peices but no franchise players that can take a team on their back. In this nhl I don't think u can win a cup without it.
Elliott gtfo man. U have zero clutch ur entire career has proven it. Thank God the flames didn't extend him.
I dunno. The flames have an interesting off-season. Find a frigin goalie already.

This was a very interesting season, with a lot of highs and lows; however, the Flames should be (as a whole) very proud of what they accomplished.
Think of it this way. These are some notable Flames who regressed from last year: Johnny Gaudreau (78 points to 61); Sean Monahan (63 points to 58); Mark Giordano (53 points to 39); TJ Brodie (45 points to 36); Troy Brouwer (39 points to 25); Sam Bennett (36 points to 26); Brian Elliott (.930 to .910); Chad Johnson (.920 to .910).
Despite this, the Flames improved 17 points and finished as the seventh seed in the Western Conference.
This was largely on the back of a number of terrific additions by Treliving. Kris Versteeg, Michael Stone, Alex Chiasson, and (at various times) both goaltenders were all driving factors in the this season's success. The team went from having washed-up vets like David Jones, Dennis Wideman, and Mason Raymond as the leadership corps to much more effective guys.
For that, I will be forever proud of this team. They lost four one-goal games to a team who they match up horribly with. They overachieved in the regular season, with much of their young core underperforming.
That's not nothing.
Talk about a homer post. All I see is a bunch of excuses. Fact is, this core will never accomplish anything. Yeah, they might be a playoff team but that's it. They are gonna be easy picking for anyone in the first round.
This team sucks.

Gaudreau struggles against heavy teams. The book is out on him and if he's the special player many of us think he is, he will figure this out. Getting a little quicker would help.
Well, it's done. There are good players on the team. I don't mind GG anymore, in fact I think he's pretty decent, and Elliott will for sure be replaced. Time to move on with life. Next year will be better.
