Default Just heard HMV is having insane liquidation sale.

I am not sure what is left but a friend said they are selling DVD's CD's, and other merchandise at a fraction of the regular price. I am going to check it out tomorrow. I know the stores in Downtown, Chinook, and Sunridge. Anywhere else have a good selection?

Yep, been going for a while. Most stores will be really picked over by now.

I walked around there a few weeks ago and couldn't find a single thing I wanted to buy. My Spotify account makes CDs obsolete at any price. Netflix account makes DVDs obsolete at any price. And I don't like novelty mugs and t-shirts.

Yeah, this has been going on a while now. Last month I was walking around the Sunridge one, and it was pretty heavily picked over then. By now I'd imagine there's only a little niche stuff left. Was kinda neat walking around the store with employees who gave not a damn, though. Explicit lyric music, some of the things I heard them talking about. Interesting what starts to happen when you don't care if you are fired or not.

I think today is the last day anyways. I went to the Sunridge one and it was pretty much picked over like a corpse in the desert.

The store in Kingston kept getting new stuff during the liquidation. I suspect they were sending stuff there from the smaller stores in the area.

Id say it seems more like an intentional "we landed on the moon" thread.

Brick and Mortar stores that sell CDs and DVDs still exist? How quaint.

Mortar is pricey. These places are brick and melted cheese slices.

Was in HMV yesterday and some guy was asking why they are not getting in new releases anymore. The sales person mentioned that once they announced the store was closing they wouldn't be bringing anything new in. The store is covered in liquidation and store closing signs. The guy said he was shocked they were closing and hadn't even noticed.......reasons why I just shop online whenever I can.

The so called "liquidation sale" of marking down only 20% off overpriced items aren't that attractive...

A lot of stuff is 60% now. I got the whole Adventure Time DVD collection, and a few other miscellaneous things.

What a letdown. Considering all the merchandise is gone, I will just not go. I'd probably have better luck at a Second Hand store. The one in the Brentwood Mall had really good prices a year ago.

The big stick is that when they made the announcement they stopped accepting any gift cards.

Too bad the ~$30 you essentially forced me to donate to you couldn't keep you afloat.

Only four locations left -- the ones you mentioned plus Southcentre. Stuff has been picked over pretty good but one can still find the odd gem. Got the Game Theory double album remastered re-issue of Lolita Nation for $10 the other day. Also got a bunch of Lina Wertmuller Blu-rays for $9 to $12, including Love & Anarchy. One could also get the new albums from bands like Preoccupations and TUNS and Dean Ween for $3 or $4. So yeah, it's kinda like a treasure hunt now.

I decided to wander into an HMV today and I ended up leaving with some decent blu-rays. Raging Bull, Ronin, Platoon, The Usual Suspects, Man on Fire and Argo for about $3 each. Not too bad.
