Flames Flames recall Rasmus Andersson UPD: recall converted from emergency to regular

Loubardias was just commenting on the buzz that Andersson would be recalled, looks like Steinberg has confirmed.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
now
Sounds like Calgary is recalling d-man Rasmus Andersson. He’s set to join the team in Winnipeg.

@Fan960Steinberg: #Flames have confirmed Andersson recall. Kulak is dealing with an injury right now which played a part in the decision.

Very interesting. Huska in an interview a few weeks ago called him perhaps their best D-Man this year, so he's earned the call up. Hopefully he takes full advantage. Obviously an important stretch.

Good.

I hope he gets in a few games and experiences first hand the committment on and off the ice to succeed down the stretch

Please play him instead of Wideman.

Wotherspoon has a better +/- (+19) than Andersson (+14), but need a right-handed shot.

Most likely this will be the case, as they are "expecting" either Stone or Hamilton to play on Saturday

Sounds good hopefully to take Stone's spot and not joining Wideman in replacing both Dougie and Stoner

does anyone have a link to this interview?

very excited to see andersson play. he's been the best defenseman in all the rookie camp games i've watched, and showed very well in his first nhl preseason right after his draft. i hope he gets a few games and plays as well as he can and gives us options for re-forming the bottom 3 d next year.

also hope that the injuries heal soon.

Cool! Hope he does well if he plays! We could use one of our good D prospects to step up big and make some noise.

One of the most intriguing prospects in the system.

He's had a pretty outstanding first pro season. Interested to see where his fitness is it, as that was the one knock against him previously.

And finally we may get to see our return for Baertschi on NHL ice.

Exciting. Every time I've watched him play, his positional play was phenomenal. If he's finally matured enough and is committed, I think he can be a regular NHLer perhaps even next year.

This is still just a rumour, right? No official word from the team?

And so begins the first chapter in my early prognostication that Rasmus Andersson will ultimately >>Olli Juolevi

That's good. Hopefully he does great tomorrow. I don't want to see Wideman at all.

I am guessing since Wideman is around this will count as one of the 4 emergency call ups?

I am a glass half full kind of guy, so I see Stone going down (hopefully for only a short spell) as an opportunity to see what you have in Rasmus.

Yup, and so goes Dennis Wideman.

Not even good enough to be an injury replacement.

Pretty clear signal that Wideman will not play another game for the team. Excited to see Andersson play. IIRC he's worked pretty hard to overcome his conditioning issues.
