now do we have to draft a full roster, or is this just for points? Do we need goalies? so many defensmen? or is this just draft guys who'll get the most actual points?

that's correct, and stay within the $64.3M salary cap.
this idea is to draft the best all-round team, nothing to do with points, per se.

All related games/draft-type things are in the sub forum or else they clutter up normal traffic. The game I'm thinking of will be there as well.

Nice first few picks so far. Doing these things is always tough because everyone is on a different schedule, especially on Saturdays. Some people probably don't even know the draft has started yet.

Just a suggestion that might make things easier, use this thread here for questions, comments and other stuff. Then make another thread strictly for just our picks. I think it will just make things a little more easier to keep track of.

We're drafting hypothetical teams to be judged on their general awesomeness, the fine points of which we'll likely argue over at length.

I'll make a draft thread tomorrow and try to get it all figured out then. Or someone can make the draft thread. I don't have a life so I could keep the original list updated. Also when you make your pick can you PM the guy picking after you? It will save a lot of time. Thanks!

Just had to quote this because it perfectly explains this rather nerdy exercise!

Okay I'm not sure how much more drafting we will be doing today.
I will not be around until tomorrow morning so I hope it doesn't make it to picks 21-30 :P
I didn't realize we would be starting the drafting so soon.
I have Heavyjacks list, as for the rest of you 21-30s let me know if you can not make it, even though we do not know what time it is at.

Considering the pace so far, I think us in the 21-30 will be safe until tomorrow.

1-1 Edmonton, Sidney Crosby, C, 8.7M
1-2 Colorado, Alexander Ovechkin, LW, 9.53M
1-3 Florida, Jonathan Toews, C, 6.3M
1-4 New York Islanders, Steven Stamkos , C, 7.5M
1-5 Ottawa, Evgeni Malkin, C, 8.7M
1-6 Winnipeg, Pavel Datsyuk, C, 6.7M
Anyone bored enough to consider discussing these picks thus far?
I opted to go with a combo of youth, leadership and reasonable cap hit. I like the Datsyuk pick as well. Malkin is iffy for me at 8.7M, just because of the injury season last year. Ovechkin is awesome, but 9.53M is very steep, making it tough to fill the rest of the roster.

Alright will my thread work out alright? If you guys think it wont work I will just get the thread deleted, if you guys think it can work I can finish off the rest of it later. For now I do think it would be easier to post your picks in this thread.
Edit: I do realize this will take alot of work on my part and sometimes I might not be doing right up to the minute updates. Basically I have the same schedule everyday and the best time for me to update that page is after 7 Sunday-Thurs and Friday and Saturday depends on what is going on.
Im wondering if we make another thread strictly just for draft picks, so if I get behind in my updates I can just go to that thread and find the picks easily instead of having to scroll through picks, then comments, then questions.
