Trade all the aforementioned guys and start packaging picks might work to move higher.

I think Stajan sucks, but I feel that he's better value than Bouwmeester.

Oh i agree completely. I should have used green text.

The guy can skate, no doubt about it, and will be able to play until he is 45 because he hasnt thrown a meaningful bodycheck in years.

I would imagine that dion Phaneuf was first star more times in his rookie season than Bo has appeared in the three stars his entire time here.

I'm not advocating it, but if we are bad enough to get a natural top 3 pick, then traded someone like Kipper at the draft for another, it could happen.
Unlikely for sure, but thats how I would see it.

I have just accepted the fact that Bouwmeester will never live up to his expectations and was a bad signing. It keeps me going.

Feaster needed to trade him early this summer to the highest bidder. Even if it was way less than he wanted. I would have even settled for the blues offer of D'agostini and a 2nd at the draft. He could have spent the money saved on another 2nd pairing d man with a bit of grit. Now the only way the flames are trading Bouw is if we are out of it. Nobody is going to give a top 6 player for him. Trade him for a pick now with no dmen available and flames have no chance of playoffs. Basically if we are making playoffs this year Bouw will be on this team. I shudder to think what his game would be like in the playoffs.

I'm no fan of Bouwmeester and I think that Phaneuf trade may go down as one of the worst trades in history especially when Phaneuf is easily a better D than Bouwmeester, but I still am not blind to the fact that Bouwmeester plays easily one of the worst D partners in the NHL. My god is Butler awful. I didn't have the hate on for him others on here did, but I do now. Absolutely useless. How this guy gets the minutes he does blows my mind. Anyone in the top 4 in Abbotsford would do a better job than this clown. Bouwmeester for lack of better word is a #####. Soft as butter, but he does spend half his time covering up for Butler who looks lost every shift.

The ironman streak of Bouwmeester is not something he should be hanging his hat on. Last season he had 69 hits in 82 games. Slow old useless Cory Sarich had 144 in 20 less games.

The guy doesn't even average 1 hit per game. I'm glad his ice time is being reduced (Wideman, Butler & Gio all logged more tonight) but Brodie could honestly do more to help the team with those minutes than Jay does.

Just a boat anchor of a contract at this point.

Don't forget that 99 was a weak draft, and the Sedin's were pretty much a package deal, where if they were picked by different teams there were concerns that they would not come over or try to force a trade. This coming draft doesn't seem to have the vibe of being wek at the top end. So to get a 2nd high pick will cost more than Brian McCabe and next years first round puck.

Bouwmeester's game is better suited for an Eastern conference team where there is no pressure. Florida, Islanders, Tampa Bay, etc. He is pillowy soft in is own zone and offensively, his shot is so weak.

Remember after we first signed JBO, and Peca said his rep was that of being easy to play against......and most of us flipped our lids about it?

Yeah.......

Iginla for a first. Kipper for a first. Tanguay for a first. Take those package them for 3rd overall to go with our 2nd overall pick*, someone might bite.
