Schultz has a lot of potential, but it's way too early to elevate him to near-Norris levels. He's only a +1 in plus-minuses.

Little known fact:

Schultz...

91-92 Beers played 31 games and scored less than what Schultz has in 10.
Beers in 94-95 and 95-96 scored 2 goals in 35 games. Schultz has 3 so far LOL

I guess with Schultz being considered by some for the Canadian Olympic team, this seriously opens the door for Chris Tanev.

Stewart Malgunas? Brennan Evans?
Actually thought Schultz is a pretty good player, even if some people are getting a bit carried away with the hype.

No, Doug Lidstrom is definitely Canadian. He went on to star in that show Seinfeld.

On a somewhat unrelated topic, TSN has Schultz listed at 163 lbs. Is that a typo or is he really the smallest defenseman in the league?
Regardless of all responses I will forever regard Schultz as a midget.

It must be an error. hockeydb lists Schultz at 185.

There are none actively playing, so you can't name Bobby Orr, Paul Coffey,Ray Bourque and the likes. Those are the only generational talents that are comparable.

Lame thread is lame. What shocks me more is that Pang has that much of an influence on the OP to warrant starting this thread.
This some Jr high stuff.

After the ridiculous (and obvious Oiler pandering) selection of Justin Schultz on Team Canada lets take turns one-by-one and each name a defenseman better than him.
I think there are 100 defenseman better than him, he's a kid barely in the NHL. This is a men's tournament. He wouldn't even make Team France!
I'll start

But it is a good example of how the media has been cheerleading for the Oilers for so long that they've completely lost objectivity. Much like the fan base, they keep trotting out how great the Oilers will be ...someday... because they are emotionally invested. And that is, ultimately, a failure of journalistic integrity.
