Talbot is on pace for 74 games played this season which is crazy. Got me thinking about kipper so I looked back and it's mind-boggling how much hockey he played. Here's a breakdown of a 7 season stretch:

Kiprusoff:
05/06 - 74 gp
06/07 - 74 gp
07/08 - 76 gp
08/09 - 76 gp
09/10 - 73 gp
10/11 - 71 gp
11/12 - 70 gp

No wonder the guy just wanted to retire.

They do play the same 82 game schedule (regardless of order) but agree their strength of schedule was front loaded--unlike ours.

Everyone always brings up not finding a first line center for Iginla as the biggest downfall of that era, but I think never really finding a competent backup to take some of the workload away from Kiprusoff was worse.

Well would you look at that. Stars beat the Sharks in regulation 1-0. Now there's something I thought I wouldn't see happen tonight.

They show McDavid do simple dekes at the blue line and cream their pants. What would happen if they watched Gaudreau? Gene Príncipe likely gets pregnant.

I imagine they probably wouldn't be all that impressed with Gaudreau, unless of course he changed his name to Connor McDavid and threw on an Oilers jersey.

Flames only 5 points back of the division lead with 2 games remaining against the Sharks. This could get interesting.

Sharks are back in play it looks like. Any of the other three could catch them with a really hot streak. If recent history is any indication, I like Calgary to pull off something like that.

Unfortunately two teams infront of them to get to the Sharks.

Leafs 1 point back of the Bruins with a game in hand. 3 points up on the Islanders and 4 points up on the Lightning. These last 3 games have been quite impressive. It's like they just decided to start playing better hockey defensively. Andersen has been amazing. So far looking like a great signing.

It's going to be a fun final stretch with all of these teams playing one another.

With the Kings fading away, the Pacific pennant race has now turned on.

Flames looked far better closing out their game last night. Oilers are collapsing into a little square while the Kings skate around them endlessly, banking on Talbot to close out the game.

Would have loved one more Battle of Alberta this time of year. Really odd scheduling this season.
