Natural Spring Water from Canmore/Harvie Heights
Hi all,
I was chatting with a co-worker of mine the other day about his recent weekend etc. He was excited because he was able to go out to Canmore/Harvie Heights and fill up his water containers with the free spring water out there.
Personally I had no idea that this place existed and I guess its just off the highway and has the piping that brings the water straight from the mountain and is quite popular with people looking for spring water.
Just wondering if anybody has experienced this place? Any tips or info I should be aware of? I tried doing a little search online but I couldn't find anything directly from the Town of Canmore confirming the safety of the water or other information about its mineral content etc.
Any info would be appreciated as I drive out there frequently and would be willing to try it out if it was in fact approved potable water.
Thanks!

Be careful about drinking raw spring water. The spring could be contaminated. It could be clean one day, and polluted the next.

I would have phrased the title "Idiots want to take spring water in Canmore" myself.

There's natural fluoride in spring water... you might catch autism.

Natural Spring Water is how people get Lupus.
Do people really notice a dramatic difference in the taste of water? I get subtle differences but water is water. Fish viciously procreate in it.

I notice the difference in taste but yeah, it's water.
Only time I didn't like how water tastes is the Co-Op brand bottled water.

Filling up on untreated water because it's natural sounds like salt of the earth, anti-vacc'ers type behaviour.

It's not overly secret.
Personally I'd filter it through a platypus or use a UV pen on it. I have a bit of a paranoia of beaver fever, but a lot of people drink it as is.

Well, I don't know if you grew up in Calgary but if you did I don't know how you don't notice water taste when you travel. The water here is awful. I hate being hungover here because the water makes me cringe.

By travel I suppose I meant in Alberta and areas. Anywhere else I have lived. Red Deer, Grande Prairie, Edmonton, well water on an acreage etc..
Maybe the places in Calgary I have lived have been unlucky but I just can't stand the taste of the water here.

You should drink the tap water in wonderful places like Mexico, that'll cure your hangover in no time!

I always get a laugh when I drive past it and see a few people parked there. It's where my dad used to re-locate squirrels that made their way into our house.

Wait a second, I thought you were quite concerned over the fate of the animals in Canmore? Aren't squirrels part of the animals that would be effected by development?

That's exactly what happened in my hometown. Springs existed for years and some locals filled up water bottles there. Starting getting mainstream and people from the City would come over, and that was the end of the spring.
