My initial reaction was the same. Though if Netflix is to be a one stop shop, they would need to carry more content. And with the mass amount of content out there, they will have to start charging more (as we found out today for Canadians). There may be a point where they will have to start breaking out the content, like maybe different packages. And then you can cut the costs a bit by just buying the packages you want. But inevitably the costs will continue to go up until the business model just isn't sustainable anymore

I will wait to see what they offer. The way I watch TV shows and movies I'd get it for 3 months, watch all the series/movies I want, then switch to Netflix or something. There isn't much appointment TV for me. Though being Disney, there will be a digital vault and you wont be able to see The Little Mermaid for 10 months out of the year

I can't wait until Netflix is just as reviled as the cable companies they attempted to usurp.

Why?

They produce great original content. Give us access to many good/great recently released movies and TV shows. Give us on demand access to good old shows and movies. All for a pretty reasonable price.

I haven't looked into it but I heard on the news today that Facebook is launching their own video streaming service. It is going out to a limited number of users as a test and could expand after that. I'm not sure what content they will be streaming but apparently they will be producing their own content as well.

Just seems like the natural cycle of things. You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

Are you suggesting that these services could ever possibly fail? I don't believe it, you're going to have to Shomi.

How long until Netflix starts live streaming? I mean, if one of the major league sports in North America want to live on the cutting edge, maybe they cut a deal with Netflix for their next contract? I'd think the NHL would do that in the States, no?

MLB is supposed to be streaming live on the new Facebook video stream.

Don't be upset with Netflix, I thought your joke was funny.

Yeah, tough to be as reviled as much as cable companies, but it isn't all roses with Netflix (in Canada). Original content is decent, but the suite of regular movie titles is pretty grim much of the time.

Their content has become pretty bad outside of netflix originals. I wish they would just put all the old 80s and 90s sitcoms or something different. They put a bunch of classic 80s movies which is good. They keep raising the prices and if they don't increase their service quality with it then they will be hated.

Sounds like they might keep disney content in Canada but disney is starting their own streaming service.

Good question. The other night I saw the kid who plays Norman in promos for a medical drama <?> debuting this fall.

The show was 8/10-good in season one, and I can't even get through the fifth season it's gotten so bad
