THW's The Next Ones Top 30 just released...

Excerpt from intro:
Quote:
"With the highly touted, talent laden 2015 NHL entry draft now in the rear view mirror, it’s time to switch focus to the intriguing 2016 draft class which has the makings of a deep one. There will undoubtedly be plenty of jockeying for position amongst the eligible prospects with a full season of hockey yet to be played.

The following is an early glimpse at some of the talented young guns to keep an eye out for, for the 2016 NHL Draft which will take place on June 24–25, 2016 at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York."
The Top 10 (apologies for format - easier to view on THW site, but wanted to provide a sneak peak at least)

Haven't been updating this thread much this season - will start it up again as we ramp up draft coverage.

Here's my latest in depth mock draft, complete with a simulation of the lottery.

- Yes, the 1st overall pick lands in Alberta...but maybe not what ya think!

- Auston "Powers" to the 'centre of the hockey universe?!

The stars are aligning to make this one crazy mock:

Go ahead, mock my mock...

[ahhh...just saw the mocking has already begun, in this thread... http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=152145]

NHL Central Scouting’s Final Rankings Combined

4 lists. Aggregated.
By THW's E-Mac

"Every year NHL Central Scouting produces a segregated set of rankings at mid-season as well as their final rankings. Four lists are produced in the following categories:

  • North American Skaters
  • International Skaters
  • North American Goalies
  • International Goalies

These lists make the job easier for Central Scouting but they are limited in terms of where a respective prospect ranks across the lists. Therefore, each year I combine the four lists into one to obtain a better understanding of where Central Scouting is ranking the players overall."

- view on the web or your device, in downloadable spreadsheet and PDF formats.

You've got Jost and Brown ahead of Dubois. I'm not saying it couldn't happen that they are the better players but it seems out of the ordinary.

E-Mac starting to churn out more profiles; what do you think of any of these as potentials for the Flames?
(I'd personally be pretty happy to land Dahlen and Johansen if they last to us in the 2nd rnd)

- Here's Lucas Johansen:
Beyond Bloodlines: Johansen Rising

- Sean Day

- Jonathan Dahlen (find out why we dubbed him MacGyver on Ice)
[Actually, this one is mine]

56 profiles in the online guide thus far with many more coming along...

Not sure he's a Flames' target, but they do like their USHL gems...

Lance's son had awesome year. E-Mac dubs him Mr. Incognito and thinks he's 2nd round worthy, explaining why...

Not sure I'd like him as the Flames 6th overall pick, but...

my colleague E-Mac is definitely on the Logan Brown bandwagon.

He goes in-depth as to why he thinks the ginormous centreman's stock is all revved up and why he has the potential to be a #1 centre at the next level.
