Default Ongoing terrorism attacks thread

May as well have one thread to discuss what is now a nearly daily occurrence.

On the heels of the Barcelona attacks...

https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.wash...db6_story.html

One man shot by police in Finland after stabbing at least 6 people, 5 being women, one of which was pushing a baby stroller.

August 9th in France another vehicle used as a weapon injured 7 soldiers.

Sounds like something is happening at Oxford Circus in London. Hope it's not another attack.

There was also a massive terrorist attack in Egypt at a mosque with over 200 dead so far.

The Metropolitan Police said officers were called at 16:38 GMT to "a number of reports of shots fired" on Oxford Street and Oxford Circus Tube station.

"Police have responded as if the incident is terrorist related," a statement said.

"Armed and unarmed officers are on scene and dealing along with colleagues from British Transport Police.

"If you are on Oxford Street go into a building and stay inside until further direction. Avoid travelling to the Oxford Street area.

"At this stage police have not located any casualties."

Just read about this as well....sounds like the cowards exploded something inside the mosque while people were praying, then as they ran outside the bad guys were waiting with automatic rifles to gun them down.

Heinous stuff.

Those sorts of attacks don't get any exposure over here because they don't fit any of the popular narratives:

* Islam and the West are in a clash of civilisations and they want to kill us all.

* Terrorist attacks are blowback/payback for Western meddling in the Middle East.

* Terrorist attacks are carried out by minorities alienated by discrimination and bigotry in their new countries.

It’s literally one of the top 2 stories on every news site I checked (CTV, CBC, CNN, MSNBC, FOX, NYT, WaPo).

What narrative? Where are you guys not finding this Egypt news front and center?

He can be right about less prominent coverage and wrong about the reasons.

First-world, "western" democracies care less about things that don't happen in first-world, western democracies. Attacks on civilizations that are more similar to ours hit closer to home for obvious reasons. They might also be less frequent, and therefore more shocking when they do occur.

I wonder how much coverage the LV shootings got in Egypt? I have nothing concrete to go on but I'm wondering if it's somewhat location based. Because we get US based news, are closer to them, and it was Vegas, perhaps we got a lot more information on it?

Very good news.

Quote:
London police have found no "trace of any suspects" or "evidence of shots fired" after responding to a reported incident on Oxford Street, in the heart of the city's shopping district.

Metropolitan Police said officers responded to the incident as if it was terrorism given the nature of the information received.

You honestly don't find those three narratives account for 90+ per cent of the punditry explanations of Islamic terrorism in Western media? What news sites do you read?

Can we please talk about one topic at a time.

It's the top news story on a variety of mainstream news outlets. You're saying it doesn't get coverage or exposure. Please illustrate which news sites YOU read.
