In fairness, that's the actual point behind using the word "adulting" - as a signal that you don't want to reach "adult maturity levels".

Wow I totally like had a flashback to the 1980's. It was like totally tubular, but I saw like what people thought were bitchin fashions you know and I was totally like "Gag me with a spoon", like "I'm so sure"

Ah yes. Especially my wife, in fact she has been quite vocal on the subject of the Pretzel monies.

Hubby.... gross.

On the flip side, for a man's wife, no one ever refers them any more as 'the ol' battle axe'. I miss that, it made me laugh.

Maybe straying a little from the thread intent, but, when people are trying to spell "loser" and end up spelling it "looser". I don't understand how this is a thing and yet, seemingly, at least 50% of people do it.

We should be friends then.

What gets me is when people ask me how many times I've been electrocuted. I haven't been electrocuted, if I had been we wouldn't be having this conversation. You only get electrocuted once.

I don't think I've ever heard "adulting" used that way, it's always sarcastic, ironic or dismissive. Then again my social circles are mostly around fourty.

I guess twenty somethings might actually believe adulting is something to strive for

Or referring to your significant other as Babe.

Ball and chain, not funny, Battle Axe, hilarious.

I get quite a few emails that start with "just a quick update" and then go on for 300-500 more words after that. I think we need to find a new way to start emails.

Believe me, you're not missing out. There's always some doofus my age, usually girls, that make some comment about adulting, be it on facebook or in conversation.

"Wow, talking about tupperware and cooking? Serious adulting going on here."

"Just did my laundry and cleaned the house, so done with adulting today"

SHUT UP

Heard one guy say it as 'balling chain'. That was awkward.

And I never use 'regards' to sign anything anymore, the g and the t keys are too close together and I type poorly.

On that note, when people call them "the Oil". Especially Flames fans. That's what Oilers fans affectionately refer to their own team as, why are we also calling them by the same pet name?

Also, referring to hockey as "puck"

Using the word "just."

"Just wanted to reach out and..."

"Just wanted to confirm that..."

"Just wanted to ask..."

Submissive conversation really GMG.

"CP Jihad"

That second word is so upsetting, using it any kind of non-serious connotation makes it seem like we are trivializing it.
