Extremely hyped for Fox's development, I just love the type of player that he is.
Im' sure the goalie or forwards were yelling the other team was on a change and to fire it up the ice. Clearly intentional. A defenseman with his talent isn't just going to ice the puck blindly with no pressure on him at all.

He's fourth in defence points, but the three players ahead of him have all played at least 5 more games than he has. He's first in points per game.

The three players ahead of him are all seniors as well.

What are peoples thoughts on signing him after this season?
He's probably not ready to step into the NHL, but is he better served playing the AHL?
Or would he even consider signing right now?

If he keeps up anything near this pace I absolutely sign him this summer.

Timing works out great for him too.

Wideman/Engelland/Smid gone, plus likely getting one of Kulak/Jokipakka drafted by Vegas. For sure one or more of those spots are getting plugged by a UFA signing, trade, or someone graduating from the AHL. But I'm thinking he'd do good enough to impress and earn a look in the NHL at some point next year.

I see 250 goals and 750 assists in his future: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...y.php?pid=3071

Seriously though -- with Hickey also developing in college, and Andersson/Kyllington in the AHL, I really like our defensive prospects in the next 2-4 years.

Even guys like Culkin and Wotherspoon have a realistic shot next year with Wideman, Engelland and Jokipakka all potentially leaving.

When is the last time we've had prospect do so well during their first year in the organization? Excluding first round picks of course.

Looks like an awesome pick

Mangiapane with 106pts in 59 games
Gaudreau at a PPG at BC

But both don't compare to what Fox is doing. Pretty incredible what he's managed to do thus far. Even though it is still a small sample size, hard not to get excited about a player like that

Quote:
It is rare for a freshman, let alone a freshman defenseman, to make a huge impact in the ECAC. For Harvard's Adam Fox, the transition to the college game has proved to be a smooth one. In a sense, he has already become the most dynamic defender in the league.

His impact, and that of his classmate, John Marino, has made a world of difference for an offense that already was one of the best in the country.

"There is no question that the two young defensemen have given up some new dimensions on the blueline," Harvard coach Ted Donato said. "Adam has become a dynamic, offensive player for us. I think you would be hard pressed to find any player that has come in to have 16 points in his first 11 games."
Quote:
For Harvard he has done everything. He has become the talented Crimson's top defender. He has taken an intregral role and ran with it.

"Coming I was just trying get as big of a role as I could," Fox said. "I wasn't coming in with expecations of being a certain guy. I was coming in to work hard and to have as big of an impact as I could. I am trying to capitalize on the opportunity."

It is clear what he offers; his skating is smooth, he sees the ice well and his ability to move the puck around the zone is a skill set that rivals the best defenders in the ECAC, who are much older than he is.

He plays on both the power play and penalty kill. Few freshmen come into college hockey and are expected to play in all situations but he has done so, helping Harvard to some of the best special teams in the country, including a 31-percent rate on the power play, where Fox has 10 points.

It will be great to watch this kid in the WJC. I assume he will be on the team, no?

We should sign him and put him on our PP

Totally in love with this prospect. Loved the pick at the time as well. Guys like Fox and Kylington constitute what is probably my favorite player type in the game.

To be over a PPG in the NCAA is impressive.

To be a freshman defenseman well over a PPG is insane.

After maybe janko, mangiapane, Kylington.. top 10 in our summer pool
this year I imagine.

Who was the scout that said they needed to move away from the rankings and use their 3rd pick or he wouldn't be around to grab him in the 4th?

It's not like he's a rookie on a bottom feeder team and therefore getting big minutes either. It's a pretty good team. Better teams = harder for a freshman to excel.

Most likely Jim Cummins the USHL scout for the Flames.

I'm extremely excited about this guy. His NHL-e right now is outpacing Zach Werenski. It's not a full sample size yet but these numbers are impressive. The assists are mainly primary.
