At the base of the pathway to the cold place there are pepper plants, also below the moblin camp by the river cook those in a pot over a fire and then eat it. It will give you cold resistance for long enough to get to the top.
Carrying a lit torch will also give you some warmth to resist the cold. Until you come across an enemy and have to swing it or put it away. It give you a bit of time before you have to start eating peppers.
You can also get a Warm Doublet from the Old Man by cooking his special recipe for him, then you can explore the cold mountain area of the Great Plateau as much as you want with no time limits.
I'd recommend that actually, the Warm Doublet comes in handy until you can get the full cold resistant armor later on.

There's a Nintendo Direct coming up on Wednesday (the 12th) at 6pm EST.
They've said it's mostly to discuss ARMs and Splatoon 2 (likely with release dates too) but there could be some more stuff in there too. Plus those two games look pretty good, so it'll be nice to get some solid release dates.
Went in and beat Ganon last night, as mentioned with all 4 Devine beast powers and the master sword the final boss battle is pretty straight forward.
Will probably go back now and explore a little more and try to find more shrines.
Great game, can't recall another open world game that has me still wanting to explore and find more stuff after completing the story and over 50 hours into the game.
If there are people on the fence about the Switch or searching for one in Calgary there are two Grey Switches at the Nolan Hill Walmart. They also have a number of pro controllers and JoyCons.

I found that both BOTW and Horizon were fantastic at balancing open world exploring with continual progression. I usually start getting a little bored of open world games around 20-25 hours (a la Dragon Age Inquisition, and even GTAV to a limited extent). Both of these games? I'm 50 and 40 hours in respectively and sad that I'm drawing close to to the finish lines.

Agree that it's the key for sure.
Right balance of constant progression, and needing to grind to succeed.
Lots of games get to the point where all of a sudden I need to spend 10 hours doing the same thing over and over to progress where I feel like this never happened with Zelda.
Some good stuff in there -- nice to have release dates for Arms and Splatoon 2, both look great. Some of the smaller stuff looks awesome too. Battle Chasers looked really impressive, and I like the look of both of those Sonic games.
Since they're bothering with that last round of Smash Bros. amiibo, one would think they'd do a full 'Deluxe' version of Smash Bros. Wii U for Switch at some point soon. Probably hear about it at E3.
And also, 'Hey! Pikmin' for 3Ds = yes, please. And also, give me a special edition that includes that amiibo. I love Pikmin.
