Wonder if you can get around the "new costumer only" rule that way.
I've done it before on Telus. I cancel my account and my wife signs a new account up.

I told her I was open to any time slot. But it probably depends on the area.

Hmmm I'm only getting 90-100 Mbps. Is this to be expected sometimes?

Someone posted earlier that they had a 100MB switch on their network that was dragging the speed down.
Is your PC connected directly to the modem?
If not try direct connecting it then test again.

This probably sounds dumb but I did the speed test on my phone. Or should I expect less with wifi?

And I don't have a PC I have a all in one computer that I move all around the house so direct connecting it isn't an option.

I'm not an expert on Wifi but I don't think you're likely to get the same speeds as you would with a wired connection. Your phone may even be the bottleneck.

With phone you should be able to get 170 no problem.

What server are you testing? Try another one on speedtest.net that is not the Calgary one. Edmonton one will work.

Are you using the hitron modem wifi or your own?

I've got 170+ on my PC from as far away as San Jose and NYC. Close servers shouldn't impact the speeds too much (there will be some degradation), just the ping time.

I've tried several servers and the best I'm getting is in the 90's. I'm using the Hitron modem.

Test with a laptop/desktop connected via ethernet. Wifi will be slower.

If your computer is close to the modem/router yes you should have pretty much the same speed. The farther you go like another level of the house you'll I did a speedtest and here's my result.

By the way, my modem/router is sitting in my basement.

Wired connected directly to modem: 178.39Mbps download speed, 16.2Mbps Upload 12ms Ping.

Wireless close to the modem/router: 178.62 download, 16.18 upload 12ms
Wireless in my living room(1st floor): 107.26 download, 16.32 upload 12ms.
Wireless in my bedroom(2nd floor): 89.17 download, 16.32 upload 12ms
Wired hooked up on swith(1st foor): 114.43 download 16.32 upload 11ms.

Streaming video via Kodi box is freaking awesome!! Loving it so far. The best part, I am paying $5 less a month than before and I had Broadband 50.

I don't see the point of doing that as I will never be connected through Ethernet. I only use Wi-Fi. I guess 90 something is still good just was expecting 150 even through Wi-Fi.

I'm getting about 150 down and 18 up on wifi with the HITRON. Been told I can bridge it by the rep I talked to yesterday. May still do it as I can't sit on my patio with a reliable connection anymore.

If you are directly connecting to the Hitron modems WIFI then that shouldn't be the problem. Sorry I can't be more help, I used to be a bit of a computer expert a decade ago but I don't keep up with it anymore and most of the newer technology has passed me by.
