Wow, I'm not much of an Arcade Fire fan, but this new album is garbage.
Yeah, I've been reading some reviews and it sounds like it's by far their worst album. The Pitchfork review was particularly scathing, especially since they have traditionally showered that band with praise.
Straightforward and easy to digest, but man, is Spoon ever great. I'm always surprised when people say they don't know this band when I'm sure they've heard them before and didn't know it. This is a few years old now, but I never get tired of it.

Whenever I'm in the mood for face melting solos mixed with sweeping theatrical hard rock with a latin beat and some darkness to it, I go for The Mars Volta. This is as close as they get to making a single, but it's a good entry point into their sound.
