With playoffs out of reach, Buffalo has been making moves to shore things up for next year. There is an emphasis on shipping out under performers or players that have been back sliding. Jussi Jokinen has had a terrible year and I was nervous about his re-rate next season. Hossa has been great and will be missed but he is going to be 38 next year and I wanted to get a little younger.
Coming in is Trevor Daley on D. Buffalo only had 4 returning Defensemen coming back next year. This move takes the pressure off having to sign a UFA D that I don't really love just to fill the spot. Steen is a guy I've coveted and am more than happy to add him to our group in Buffalo. The deciding factor was the 1st rounder for us. I have been thinking about how to get back into the 1st round and when this opportunity presented itself, I snapped it up.
Hossa 75 OV
Jokinen 76 OV

Steen 77OV

Thanks to Inufie for one of the easier negotiations I've had recently.

Just kidding. I won't speak for Inufie other than to say that he decided he wanted to make a final push for the playoffs and he needed help up front. That was the cost to get two top 6 guys.
