It's no coincidence that some of our best seasons were in the 80s when we fought the Oil in the playoffs. It's time to regain that, win or lose.

What about the Oilers non-playoff streak?

Forced perspective is a crazy thing. I'm much taller than him yet look at this photo taken a few years back at development camp.

I love how casually and confidently Backs just knocked that puck out of mid-air.

A lottery ball away from holding their title as the most pathetic organization in pro sports, and now they're suddenly carrying the attitude of looking down on teams?

Oiler fans come across as incredibly arrogant and spoiled, that always have. They're glorying in the Flames having the meeting with the league about officials but they were convinced that nearly every game in the last 10 years was partially lost because of the refs.
They tend to fall into the humblebrag category of life, yet they tend to remove the humble.
The Oilers tend to think that Chia is some king of genius because of where they are, but the truth is that is he's been underwhelming trade wise, with the exception of two moves, the one gaining Talbot and the one gaining Maroon. But other then that he's just not been good, he's done a poor job in free agency. The only thing that he's really done well is draft McDavid.
I watch their games and all I know about the Oilers is that McDavid drives that record and Talbot drives that record, when McDavid is off of the ice, they're not a good team.
Part of me is looking forward to the next year when they're going to be forced to disassemble most of their depth and they'll go back to another 10 years of terrible hockey and maybe they'll learn some humbleness.

Im not getting cocky about playoffs until they lose one and don't fall apart. That has been the theme of this year, good stretch followed by collapse. If this team plays like they have been lately for the rest of the season then i cant see us missing.
Ive given up on Gaudreau regaining his dominant form this year. You just don't even see glimpses of it anymore. He'll contribute and collect assists here and there but he needs to rethink his game in the summer if he's going to be a top player in the NHL.

This might be part of the coaching plan; They are making it less about Gaudreau and more about the team. This way there is less focus on teams ganging up on Johnny and more players stepping up to the plate and not depending on Gaudreau to bail the team out. Also seems Johnny is getting quicker to get the puck off to team-mates before opposing players can slash him. My guess is once the playoffs come around we will see more of last seasons Johnny, but I think it is part of the coaching plan to put less pressure on Bennett and Johnny and work as a team to win games.

He had four assists to help the Flames beat the Preds the other night. I think he is coming around at the exact right time.

The main thing I'm worried about is the Kings getting Quick back in the lineup. He's coming off IR tonight apparently.

This is simply not true and has only happened once since the second week of November when they lost four in a row last month. Apart from that the Flames have not lost more than two straight in a stretch of 45 games.

Goaltending has been the least of the Kings' problems. They currently rank fifth in the league in goals allowed, and I don't see Quick making a demonstrable difference.
