Aug. 25-27: Blue Jays vs. Rangers Series Thread
Toronto Blue Jays (69-55, conquering Kings of the universe) vs. Texas Rangers Lamers (64-59, uh ... I can't think of anything)
Probable Starters:
Tuesday @6:00 Mountain Time: TOR: Mark Buehrle, 13-6, 3.45 ERA; TEX: Derek Holland, 1-1, 3.68 ERA
Wednesday @6:00 Mountain Time: TOR: David Price, 12-4, 2.40 ERA; TEX: Colby Lewis, 14-5, 4.29 ERA
Thursday @Noon Mountain Time: TOR: Marco Estrada, 11-7, 3.27 ERA; TEX: Yovani Gallardo, 10-9, 3.25 ERA
Feels pretty good to be a Jays fan after a complete dismantling of the Angels over the weekend. They are 6 games clear of their closest competition for a playoff spot and are tied with the Yankees for the AL East. Importantly, they are tied in the loss column which wasn't the case the last time they were in this position.
I'm sure you know that the Jays' offensive performance was record-setting for a 3 game series, as they scored 36 runs over the series, topping the previous record of 34. The series where the Jays recorded the most runs is actually the 1993 World Series.
Saw a cool stat the other day that stated the Jays' run differential since The Trades is would actually be 4th in the AL if you allowed all of the other teams to use their run differential for the whole season.
The Rangers have been a really hot team of late, but the Jays are going to enjoy playing in a real hitter-friendly ballpark over the next couple of days. Hopefully they can take advantage!
Stats Time!
Over his career, current Rangers hitters have the following stats vs. Mark Buehrle: 199 AB, 61 H, 6 HR, 35 K, 0.307 AVG, 0.350 OBP, 0.462 SLG, 0.813 OPS
Over his career, current Rangers hitters have the following stats vs. David Price: 148 AB, 41 H, 2 HR, 45 K, 0.277 AVG, 0.321 OBP, 0.365 SLG, 0.686 OPS
Over his career, current Rangers hitters have the following stats vs. Marco Estrada : 26 AB, 7 H, 1 HR, 4 K, 0.269 AVG, 0.367 OBP, 0.385 SLG, 0.751 OPS
Over his career, current Blue Jays hitters have the following stats vs. Derek Holland: 145 AB, 30 H, 4 HR, 26 K, 0.207 AVG, 0.256 OBP, 0.338 SLG, 0.594 OPS
Over his career, current Blue Jays hitters have the following stats vs. Colby Lewis : 114 AB, 30 H, 6 HR, 29 K, 0.263 AVG, 0.351 OBP, 0.482 SLG, 0.834 OPS
Over his career, current Blue Jays hitters have the following stats vs. Yovani Gallardo: 117 AB, 32 H, 4 HR, 21 K, 0.274 AVG, 0.353 OBP, 0.436 SLG, 0.789 OPS
OK!
BLUE JAYS!
LETS!
PLAY!
BALL!

Tough building to play in. Would be very happy to walk away with 2 out of 3.

So Price starts tomorrow - does that mean he's not starting against Detroit this weekend??

maybe, maybe not. Depends on if they decide to recall Hutch to pitch the last game.

I hope he keeps pitching the Jays inside. Not sure that's a great strategy.

At least the Jays are making Holland work. Probably their best starter, especially when healthy.

Good steal. Too bad Revere couldn't cash him.

Won their last 7 against lefties?
So they're due for a couple losses, I'd say.

Why is he throwing it inside to Jose? Yay for us he leaves one hanging, 3-2 Jays.
