Default Aug. 21-23: Blue Jays vs. Angels Series Thread

Toronto Blue Jays (66-55, conquering Kings of the universe) vs. California Anaheim Los Angeles Angels (63-58, indecisive franchise namers)

Probable Starters:

Friday @8:00 Mountain Time: TOR: David Price, 11-4, 2.41 ERA; LAA: Hector Santiago, 7-6, 2.86 ERA
Saturday @7:00 Mountain Time: TOR: Marco Estrada, 10-7, 3.20 ERA; LAA: Andrew Heaney, 5-1, 2.43 ERA
Sunday @1:35 Mountain Time: TOR: R.A. Dickey, 7-10, 4.14 ERA; LAA: Garrett Richards, 12-9, 3.50 ERA

Well, the past couple series haven't quite gone the Jays' way, and yet, despite losing 2 of 3 to the Yankees and one of the two against the Phillies (yuck), the Jays still find themselves only 1.5 GB for the division and up 3.5 on the Orioles for the Wild Card. Gotta think it's a four-team race for those Wild Card spots at this point with the Twins and Rays 3.0 GB of the second spot. Not many games left to make up that kind of ground.

And just as the Jays experienced a perfect storm of an OOT a couple days ago with the worst possible scenario happening in each game, as far as I can tell, the exact opposite was true yesterday. They end this weird run of days off with the completion of this series, after which they play 3 against the Rangers. Six pretty important games coming up here!

Stats Time!

Over his career, current Angels hitters have the following stats vs. David Price: 153 AB, 42 H, 4 HR, 30 K, 0.275 AVG, 0.319 OBP, 0.405 SLG, 0.725 OPS
Over his career, current Angels hitters have the following stats vs. Marco Estrada : 59 AB, 14 H, 3 HR, 14 K, 0.237 AVG, 0.274 OBP, 0.390 SLG, 0.664 OPS
Over his career, current Angels hitters have the following stats vs. R.A. Dickey: 164 AB, 29 H, 4 HR, 35 K, 0.177 AVG, 0.238 OBP, 0.293 SLG, 0.530 OPS

Over his career, current Blue Jays hitters have the following stats vs. Hector Santiago: 61 AB, 13 H, 1 HR, 10 K, 0.213 AVG, 0.310 OBP, 0.279 SLG, 0.589 OPS
Over his career, current Blue Jays hitters have the following stats vs. Andrew Heaney : 8 AB, 3 H, 0 HR, 2 K, 0.375 AVG, 0.375 OBP, 0.625 SLG, 1.000 OPS
Over his career, current Blue Jays hitters have the following stats vs. Garrett Richards: 89 AB, 19 H, 2 HR, 20 K, 0.213 AVG, 0.255 OBP, 0.337 SLG, 0.592 OPS

OK!

BLUE JAYS!

LETS!

PLAY!

BALL!

Baseball, in general.

Let's Go Blue Jays! Trout Vs. Donaldson, aka, the AL MVP matchup is an interesting subplot.

Time for Donaldson to have a monster series and show the baseball world who the real MVP is!

I love when teams where red and blue. I wish hockey allowed this.

Is there a point where we start getting concerned about Tulo's production?

Love that combo, it looked great when they allowed it for the Leafs/Wings winter classic.

We gotta get something out of this inning. This is where we're losing games.
