Estrada's run support is around 5. Estrada's WHIP and ERA are lower than Buehrle's.

Estrada's WAR is 2.8, Buehrle's is 2.3.

By pretty much every measurable statistic Estrada's the better pitcher.
I wonder if Buehrle's run support has anything to do with the fact that he's such a fast worker on the mound?

Yes, Estrada's numbers are a little better.

But some guys know how to win. How you pitch when it's 2-2 is more important (obviously) than how you pitch when it's 5-0.

Maybe Buerhle has been throwing more strikes because he has had the lead a lot (resulting in some runs against).

Wins matter, and how you pitch in tight situations matters.

So many old pros, and especially old pitchers, say the only thing that matters is winning. And I am not referring to after-game press conferences.

Listen to guys like Jack Morris. Just win baby.

Also, run support averages out over time.

Some guys find a way to win more often.

Crazy to think 32 game ago the blue jays were a game under .500 and the playoffs were looking bleak. Now just over a month later they're 19 games over and looking like world series contenders.

Here's something odd, a side by side of Price and Stroman.
