I loved The Force Awakens but my only issue was all the things left unexplained where you needed to read the book or watch youtube videos. The movie should explain, while the additional material should expand and enhance.

The movie did cover pretty much everything, it is self-contained. All the other chatter is just people trying to guess what is going on. Wouldn't leave any room for sequels if the explained everything.

There are 2 more movies in the series, and multiple spin offs coming.

Were there people complaining that Obi Wan mentions the Clone Wars in A New Hope, with no further explaination until 20+ years later? What about any explanation at all for what the Force was or what it lets you do. The most we see from the Force in the first movie is Obi Wan persuading some soliders, making a distracting clicking noise, and that it apparently gives Luke incredible aim and the ability to speak to dead people.

And that Vader can choke people.

Really? I think it is all very related to the movie and love what this thread has become.

Long essays about the intricacies of the EU, which was erased almost two years ago? Whee.

As opposed to....

Conversation about the movie that has been out since Christmas, everyone has seen and already discussed at length in this very thread? What is there to talk about other than our own personal speculation?

I enjoy the discussions and theories as well. Personally though, I could live without the EU discussion as it's non-canon. It's kind of contradictory since our personal speculation isn't canon either, but theorizing from canon material seems to hold more water than speculating from EU material.

Yeah I agree the EU stuff is kind of moot because none of it necessarily applies. As someone whose never read a Star Wars book though, I do find CC's summaries interesting to read.

Rumored to make an appearance in Star Wars Rebels next season, and Rebels is considered canon.

I just don't like looking back at the EU, I guess.

We must move forward, not backward; upward, not forward; and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

From some of the information revealed in some of the expanded Force Awakens material, and from the Star Wars Rebels series it really feels like Snoke is going to be a former Inquisitor who had worked closely with Vader and Palpatine does it not?

Maybe, but I have my doubts, they keep talking about how powerful Snoke is in the force, something that is yet to be proven.

The Inquisitors that we've seen in Rebels for example with the exception of the Grand Inquisitor who is dead aren't all that well trained or strong in the force.

They're more like bounty hunters with light sabers.

I have this theory about Snoke that he's running a huge con. He's not all that powerful, but he wants Kylo by his side because Kylo is going to be very powerful, and he's going to use Kylo as his path to power.

I feel that Kylo is going to figure out that he's been played at some point and really decend into darkness, kill Snoke and become a Palpatine like power figure.

In that case then he could very well be an Inquisitor. It wouldn't be that hard to fool Kylo and General Hux with whatever limited tricks he knows with the Force.

Kinda like a guy with a half empty butane lighter and no wilderness skills conquering primitive man.

I'd laugh if they got to a big climactic fight and Snoke is facing off against Luke or Rey and he screams "Eat hate Lightning Byatch"

And he claws up his fingers like Palpatine and this really weak arsed single stream of lightning comes out and the only damage that it does is

Hey look some TFA related news!!

Quote:
#WheresLuke has long been answered, but — even before the very first trailer dropped — fans were asking a great many more questions. In order to keep plot details undercover, director J.J. Abrams included Luke Skywalker himself Mark Hamill in the first table read, despite the fact Hamill has no lines for the film. However, Abrams had another important job for Hamill during the read.

Now time for the old bait and switch..

Erik Bauersfeld, beloved “Star Wars” voice actor and radio producer, passed away over the weekend in his Berkeley home at the age of 93.

Bauersfeld’s most notable roles include voicing Admiral Ackbar and Bib Fortuna in “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.” In “Return of the Jedi” he delivered one of “Star Wars'” most famous lines, “It’s a trap!”
