NJ Team Report
Two weeks (real time) into the season, the NJD have proven themselves to be fast starters as one of the leaders in the overhauled Eastern Conference. This past advance a 6 player trade was made to ship out disgruntled scorer David Desharnais, hulking center Nik Antropov and veteran defenseman Scott Hannan in exchange for youth in Mikael Granlund, John Moore and third line center Craig Smith.
With this trade, the Devils have signified that they have not forsaken the future of their franchise and still remain competitive by icing what is one of the deepest lineups in the league. With the threat of injury so high, this could turn out to be the Devils biggest strength, especially with the versatility of forward Colin Greening who was called upon to play two game at defense after injuries to Kevin Shattenkirk, Derek Morris, Andrew Ference and Matt Carle.
The Devils hope to continue to win through a balanced attack and to make more trades as forwards Jason Pominville, Michael Ryder, PA Parenteau, Kyle Okposo; Defensemans Andrew Ference, Derek Morris; And eccentric goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov are all rumored to be on the block
