Is it for the whole winter or just until January like last year? I would like to go but probably can't until March.

That's a lot of extra capacity and most of it would be on mainline from what I can see.
Brandon and GP would be for sure the only Encore flights. Possibly Ft Mac and Kelowna too. Everything else is would be mainline (unless they also run Encore on some Vancouver flights?). Pretty good bump.

Lufthansa 476 operating Munich-Vancouver is diverting our way. Probably arriving around 1730.

Any particular reason for the diversion? Vancouver can't be much further.

On Wednesday, I will be flying American Airlines to South America, via Dallas. Does anyone know what's up with this new enhanced security? My flight leaves at 6:30 am and I was planning to be there 2 hours ahead, but on TV, they were saying 3 hours?! That was a general news story and they were showing people in Toronto, so I'm hoping in Calgary 2 hours is enough. That being said, since it's only the first leg of a major trip, I would rather be there early than be late and mess things up.

Apparently it was a fuel stop due to stronger than forecast winds.

I heard you might just have to take a laptop or tablet out of its case and turn it on. Not much more than that.

Pretty much my understanding. It is only about hardware too so agents aren't supposed to even ask to access the device. It's all about whether the laptop or tablet is safe physically.

Ugh, Westjet's new schedule pooched our non-stop from Fort Lauderdale. Looks like they've gone to once-weekly in the winter from the two or three times weekly. None of the alternatives look great - 3 extra hours plus either connecting in YYZ (I hate mid-flight customs clearing) or long connections elsewhere. Will need to discuss this with the bosses (kids and mom).
I don't want to refund either, as I used an expiring customer care voucher to pay for the flight... and Westjet dollars!

Yup, A333 yesterday, A346 today, come on A388 tomorrow!
Not to make light of the medical diversion today of course.

I watched it depart from work, so long. I much prefer the proportions of the A340-500.

Interesting that they diverted to YYC for fuel when YEG was closer and more in line with their flight path. Looks like they were still over the NWT near Yellowknife when the decision was made. It's not like they have a station here and thus have support. The medical diversion makes sense, looks like they were near Regina/Moose Jaw so YYC was the closest major airport.

Perhaps YYC having the larger Air Canada presence (them and Lufty being Star Alliance partners) made it the better choice for a quick gas and go? Could have also been gate availability to fuel up, YYC has more room now than YEG to facilitate this.

Tyler is right. The 340-600 is one ugly ass plane, the -500 is quite nice however.

I am not sure if this is the correct thread or not but I was wondering about TSA Pre-Check.
I am a Nexus cardholder and I haven't flown to the US in a little while and I am going for a trip to Phx in September, the early morning flight back to YYC has me worried that there may be a huge line. When I booked my flight on Air Canada they asked for my Nexus card number, does this mean I will get the TSA Pre-Check symbol on my boarding card?
What other requirements are to be had in order to use the expedited lines other than just being a Nexus user?
Thanks for any help!
