Default Dogs offend Muslims now

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...o-Muslims.html

The latest thing that Muslims are offended by

Dogs Unclean ?

Malaysia has bigger problems to worry about rather than dogs.....like learning how to land a plane safely

I work with a devout Muslim and I asked him about that a while back.

Dogs are ok with him except they would not be allowed into the house.

I know Muslims with dogs, people can get offended by anything when they're looking to be offended.

Malaysian muslims have always been offended by dogs. The chinese and indians are the ones that tend to have them and the Malays usually don't like them.

Dogs are ritually unclean in Islam. So keeping a dog in your house makes it unclean and therefore unfit for prayer. But there is nothing wrong with dogs being in a Muslims presence. It's not like these guys are being forced to pray around dogs during the opening ceremony.

This is stupid.

Many Muslims refuse to have direct contact with dogs, which are considered by some to be "unclean" in Islamic culture. Some overseas Muslim groups have reportedly previously called for a jihad on dogs.
Good old doggy jihad...

Cats are 100% OK and considered ritually clean.

In fact when I went to Egypt a few years ago, all the mosques had giant gangs of cats living in them.

Load all dogs onto the national airline and set off for parts unknown. Problem solved.

We love our two dogs and they literally sleep in our bed. So, I guess, I will not be inviting any devout Muslims to my house anytime soon... Oh, well...

Is this something that is really only observed by more conservative muslims? I know many muslims that own dogs and let them in the house.

Cats are revered in Islam.

Dogs are considered unclean. This isn't new.

Yeah, I recall a few years ago, some cleric issued a fatwa on dogs, which was followed up with a lot of dogs going missing in Toronto (although no link was ever proven).
