Default Earthquake?!

Anyone else feel that about 12:34AM?!? Entire condo building shaking for about 10 seconds here in Sunnyside. Thought I was losing it and delirious from lack of sleep. Never experienced that before.

Edit- Stolen from a Reddit thread: https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthqua...09757#shakemap

Looks like Calgary experienced the aftershocks from a 5.8 quake in Lincoln, Montana. What an eery feeling that was.

I felt that too. Could not figure out what the hell it was. Earthquake certainly never came to mind.

It was weird, glad there is an explanation. Thought I would have to check the basement for squatters partying.

Always a weird feeling, can easily become disorientated with the shaking.

Amazing how far those waves can travel and how they change by the time they come to us. I felt one back in 2003, where you could feel the different direction waves. Really cool

My son just called me about it. The epicentre was in Montana and it was fairly strong one; 6? on Richter scale they said.

Yep, felt it. Really gentle sway, almost like "huh, what that felt weird", and then it was gone.

Didn't really think it could be an earthquake out this side of the Rockies.

I wonder if this is related to the recent activity from Yellowstone. If so, it could be concerning. Any experts here?

Lol. I'll admit that the Yellowstone volcano scares me. It's been on my mind a lot lately and this event doesn't help!

Aww, my second earthquake and I slept through it? Damn.

Still. The most shocking part of this for me is that 660 news called it "the biggest quake to hit Montana in a decade." I didn't think Montana really got earthquakes at all, let alone enough that 6.0s are a decennial event.

I just laid down in bed a few minutes beforehand and then the bed started moving side to side ever so gently. I thought it was strange and couldn't figure out what that could be.

Neighbours felt the earthquake here in Lethbridge. I didn't. I was even awake and on my feet. I feel ripped off. I want to feel one, but not deal with devastation so this was the perfect opportunity.

Ha. Yeah, it had been on my mind. I also freaked out my kids by letting them watch that Nova episode on the Yellowstone super volcanoes. I kind of hope there is some warning, like they had for Mt. St. Helens. Or maybe it's just best for it to happen without the initial mass hysteria. I am a little bit divided on what would be best.

I didn't feel anything in south Calgary, but I was asleep. Also a little disappointed.

When I lived in California I felt a few of them so I got the authentic experience. One of them even knocked over and damaged my Seattle Space Needle model.
