Had a couple drinks before writing this? ;-)
Anyway, I have had a hard time finding good Indian mangoes in Calgary. And frankly even the good ones I did find in Indian stores in Edmonton were from the Philippines. Check the Indian stores on McKnight off 52 street, your best bet.

This seems like a poor attempt at a Sliver thread. I'm not sure if the strangest part is the mango bathtub fetish, trying to impress a subway girl, or having good taste in fruits but a bad taste in sandwich shops.
Kensington Pride mangoes are the best btw.

Definitely not drinking. If I had been there would be a sea can of mangoes on its way.
Kensington mangoes you say? Where do you get those?
I'm starting to think we've been shafted on mangoes for all these years. Same with avacados.

As someone who has unlimited, unabated, full-time access to authentic Indian mangoes, they're not that great. The juice is okay I guess.
You're better off with peaches.

You should fly to the Punjab and pick her up a dozen or so in person, thereby definitively answering the ancient question: how far will a man go for mango?

Sometimes Freestone produce will get legit ones it but they will be gone fast. Check Basha Foods, Apna Punjab grocery off 52rnd and the other desi grocery shops. Alphonso is close but not the same.Indian mango is huge.

I hate to be the first one to have to say this, but have you checked Mango Direct? That's on third. There's Big Pits, Sweet Flesh, that's on third too. Massive Mango, also on third. Mango Mango Mango...matter of fact, they are all in the same complex. The Mango complex on third.

Go to any Indian grocery store in the NE and they have them. I get them by the box every second week from Fruiticana - 216 Saddletowne Cir NE.

OK General Food Store (1023-5075 Falconridge Blvd NE).
I was just there this morning picking some stuff up for my parents and they have them there. That place is the go-to as far as produce from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka etc.

I have nothing to add, but will use this opportunity to see if anyone knows where to get fingerling grapes (which I like to think of as "two-bite" grapes). They look like:

No idea, but Basha just off Barlow, T & T in the north (the one at Franklin is a dump), and Chongo's at Crossroads Market are three places where I routinely find a different selection of weird/new/interesting fruit.
Edit: Oh yeah, and the Italian Centre Shop on Fairmount Dr. - also a good place to find different fruit.

I would have figured the best mangoes come from tropical south and central America and not India. Whoda thunk.

I never log in from my phone while at work, but...
I just drove east bound on McKnight, past 19(?) Towards McCall. In a building on the south side of McCall, I saw a logo/sign that said "MangoLand"
Might be a good place to start. Good luck!!

That place is great. Thanks. I got some Rajan mangoes and they are delicious. Way better than the ones we usually get.
Now, how many do I bring to my Subway girl? I'm going to sound and look like an idiot. "Here's a mango. Can I have double cheese today?" It's gonna be bad.

^ In order to make the whole mango presentation less awkward, my recommendation is to take video.
