Default New furnace

I found a few old threads, but I figured a new thread would be just as good as I'm sure some some of the info is outdated. I booked CP's finest Keith to come do a service and cleaning and funny enough my furnace seemed to stop working a couple days before he came. By the way, Keith is awesome and is a great source of knowledge. So, looks like the board is done and will be a $500-$700 fix on a 22 year old unit. I'm thinking it's time to replace everything and maybe even get AC.

Has anyone upgraded recently? I understand Lennox is one brand to stay away from, is that still the consensus? Any one have experience with Daiken or Carrier? Any recommendations for installing companies? Any good resources about the new updates that were announced in April?

We had some work done to the heating and air conditioning and used Distinct HVAC. Guy's name was Nate.

We were really happy, but it wasn't a full replacement so I can't speak to that.

We have a high efficiency Amana. Does a good job. This thread reminds me we need to book Keith for a cleaning. It's been too long.

I got a pair of Daikens installed a year ago by Williams HVAC. The furnaces work and my gas bill has dropped, at least after accounting for carbon tax... The install (venting) was pretty tough but they did a good job, except for some PVC cement dropped from a ladder.

Overall... Expensive product, but not a bad installer and it's worked so far.

Good to know. Daiken is the brand I have the most interest in. How do you find the noise of the units you got?

I don't have a good measuring stick, since I replaced units that were loudly complaining on their last legs. The fans/airflow are loud enough that I prefer to keep the utility room door closed when watching TV in the next room, but it's not overwhelming even when I forget.

Or I'm going deaf.

I also had Williams install a pair of Daikins. Really good, decent noise level for a 16 seer.

For the folks that had Daiken units installed by william's HVAC did you have any luck negotiating them down from their original quote?
